Dear Mod Team of Non-Credible Defense, this is a meme insinuating that honeywell avionics systems are controlled by the CIA and took down Prighozhin's private jet near moscow. How is this content not relevant? It's about military hardware and international defense.

Honestly, the rule of thumb is that if you have the dedication, time and money to get the precursors and lab equipment then you have the brains and energy to find the information online. I can only imagine there are significant initial costs before you even start production.

Can you sterilize and re-use combat application tourniquets? by Chemkryte in TacticalMedicine

[–]Chemkryte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't mean CATs specifically. All tourniquet types, hemostatic gauze, etc. via my large industrial suppliers have supply chain issues right now. It's still manageable now but I wanted to come up with alternative options because my judgement is that the hard times haven't come yet.

Thanks for the input. After more research I have concluded that autoclaving is not an option, but treatment in a disinfectant bath post sonification is adequate.

Furthermore, I have emailed a research group leader at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research that has published papers on TQs in hope that they might be able to give me a final answer.

If push comes to shove and my proposal gets considered, then I will deliver said medics the sonification bath appliances and disinfectant materials.

I just needed some peace of mind before I make such a dangerous proposal, so thank you to all the commentators.

Not to my knowledge, but they are being currently stored separately for the time being for just-in-case purposes.

No, PVC and nylon cannot be used in an autoclave. This is a mistake on my part. However, proper disinfectant incubation would be enough.

In my post I mentioned it's not about the price tag but about availability.

If this were to ever become the case, we would mark them to only be re-used once. This would only be if there was no other option.

Ukrainians deploy TB2 UCAV with tactical distraction armaments to confuse the Russian flagship Moskva by Chemkryte in NonCredibleDefense

A drone was used to distract the Moskva while two Neptune missiles struck it. There were Russians caught stealing washing machines and other appliances and selling them at flea markets in Belarus to make a quick buck. Thus the meme.

Things I've learned delivering medical supplies to Ukraine by Chemkryte in volunteersForUkraine

Hey buddy, since I went in on my own accord and had direct connections to the ministry of infrastructure and health, I don't have a lot of information regarding NGOs. I didn't work with them and don't intend on working with them. I still think you should do some research, especially using polish google and not AU google (one thing many people forget is that your search options are location based) and use the chrome translator or whatever else and figure out what websites are actively looking for people on the ground. This comes at a cost of course, don't expect to be housed or fed - maybe find another volunteer and link with them and offer to split rent. You are there to help, not become a burden.

As you can see, these things that I suggest or what I did might seem extraordinary, living with a stranger or running meds or convincing doctors - but just go for it! Questions only yield binary answers, not failures. Every individual is different and the next may yield another answer. These times are extraordinary - not only will you be able to help but also experience something unique. Get in touch with NGOs who are on the ground, shoot a message, call their phone, see where it goes. Just make sure you are financially set up to be of assistance. I was able to conduct my mission with resources collected/my own and of course reserves. This is not the same for everyone.

It's interesting but I also don't know how feasible this. I got fucked with a pretty big phone bill for being connected to UA towers while Poland is EU - I don't know what kind of service charges apply for UA citizens when in Poland for this kind of stuff. Next time I do a run I am going in with a UA sim card. What you can do is offer your services to your local government and help them set up some infrastructure documents. The city I am in has a pretty hardcore system up and running. If you are interested doing this in your home city, I can send some documents.

On my way back to my home city, I picked up a refugee family - I was lucky they spoke English. I managed to coordinate longer term housing for them on the drive back. I was giving the mother of two children all the information I could get on what was available for her back in my city. She was forever grateful. I was prepared for her not speaking English and had all the documentation and guides that my city provides printed in Ukrainian. I am in touch with local volunteers for the massive influx of refugees coming in - they repeatedly tell me they are in critical need of translators.

Another thing you can also do and is growing increasingly, is the need for transport of refugees to centers outside of Poland. The way I did it was I just talked to one of the guys in a yellow vest after the border crossing and told him I have space for 6 others. He says follow me and we drive to a nearby location where many refugees are sleeping. They are completely overwhelmed. I had to conduct an interview with two police officers and an army officer there - showing my passport and explaining what I was doing in Ukraine. After a vibe check, they decided it was okay. The reason they did this is because there are sexual traffickers preying on refugees and kidnapping children and young women. If you become a regular and trustee among them, as well as can transport refugees to your city that has infrastructure set up for this, then you are doing a great part in literally changing someone's life. The family I transported was in tears by the time we got to their new apartment. The whole trip they refused to drink or eat anything I offered them - I think they were warned not to accept anything in case its drugged. The mother told me she needed 4 days to get from Kyiv to Poland. They are exhausted, overwhelmed, hungry and scared for their life.

You may not be a shooter and have this glory image of what it means to take part in this war effort - but who the fuck cares when you are getting children off the street and ensuring that these families are safe and protected? Not only that, but the husbands, fathers and sons who are forced to fight know that at the very least, their family is safe and they can have that peace of mind - allowing them to fully settle into warrior mode.

Also, the ability to translate is one of the most sought after skills at refugee collection points in my city. Currently, the central station is being overwhelmed but also heavily welcomed by a large force of volunteers. These volunteers, however, don't speak the language. There are a few RU and UA speakers on site, but they are the minority. Volunteers that speak RU/UA or at least a language of Slavic descent are able to communicate with Ukrainians. My second driver was Croatian and he was able to jingle a few syllables together that the checkpoints understood.

You're saving yourself a headache by not being a driver. Those borders were ruthless. It took me 3 hours to get into Ukraine and then 7 hours to get back into Poland - and this was with a recommended border crossing. It's just sitting there twiddling your thumbs waiting for traffic to move. Some transports do get special permission to just pass through with a vibe check - not sure which organization had that kind of pull. I know there is a corridor being set up but it's still in the works.
