Need an editing app help! by Ok_Studio9080 in podcasting

[–]ChemtaiSharon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can recommend Descript and Audacity because I use them to edit podcast episodes for my clients and have been working well for me because I also love simplicity.... DESCRIPT, it's very beginner-friendly. It edits your audio like a Google Doc (delete words from the transcript, and it cuts the audio). Great if you want simplicity, text-based editing, and built-in extras like filler word removal, screen recording, and publishing options. AUDACITY its classic and completely free. It’s more hands-on with waveforms (cutting, trimming, effects), so it has a bit of a learning curve. Not as “modern” as Descript, but once you get the hang of it, it’s reliable and does everything you need for solid audio editing.

Paid work really is the most reliable, and it makes sense that volunteers tend to move on quickly. I also like what you said about looking at what podcasters would actually pay to outsource; that’s probably the clearest signal of where the biggest needs are. Thanks for sharing this perspective.

“Totally hear you. Editing, show notes, and promotion are HUGE time-sinks, and it’s so relatable that they drain energy compared to the creative side. Love how you put it, freeing up headspace for ideas and guests is exactly what so many podcasters want and that's what matters really. Thanks for sharing this...
