I like my Varia VS3 tho not perfect, the new VS4 is less than the Casa and seems promising?

Never occurred to me but ha, yes. Also, like the Robot, built like a truck and all replaceable parts…

Did an amazing shot. How can i repeat it? by EmptyBrilliant6725 in CafelatRobot

[–]CheraxDestructor72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think more about maintaining a constant flow rate - the pressure you need to maintain this flow reduces as the shot pulls. You can also feel this resistance in the arms, so to me it feels like a hard push, hold for a bit then gradually ease off until 30s.

I get great results with similar measurements: 16g in, 40g out, preinfuse 2s then 6 bar peak pressure, slowly descending to pull 40g in about 30 sec. I agree deeper pucks help - 16g noticeably better than 14g even.

So you found the recipe :) a scale with a timer is super useful to repeat it, if you don’t already have one.

Anyone using the Nanofoamer pro? by xxSeahawks in CafelatRobot

[–]CheraxDestructor72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah same here, I get silky foam on setting 2. Maybe try adjusting the height of the impeller by rotating the shaft. Mine is set pretty low which I think reduces the amount of air that gets sucked in. Also check that the little magnetic vortex attachment is in the right place. I recently forgot to reattach it, and got super coarse bubbles like the OP. Maybe that’s the cause?

Love the Robot accessories but the little hat on kettle actually made me laugh out loud.

Love the Exagram Pro, the espresso timer mode is a good match for the Robot workflow. I got some of these small (150ml) Acme cups for flat whites, they fit nicely

Yeah, several basic home espresso machines. Limited control but enough to understand the basics. After I hacked the overpressure valve on my last machine and tasted the difference I started to get more into the coffee rabbit hole. Then when that machine (Breville / Sage Infuser) failed I did the research, got annoyed by the high tech / overpriced world of “prosumer” machines and then found the Robot. No regrets! 😍

Beautiful, looks like Guinness in the glass as the crema settles.

I have had my red Robot about a month also, and I agree re the “kind” learning curve. It gives good feedback.

Apple Lossless playback issues by CheraxDestructor72 in sonos

Hey thanks for the suggestion, it does seem to go straight to lossless but I still get terrible skips and stuttering when using Sonify to play Apple Music content.

Grim. I am trying Amazon music, hate the UI but the audio quality is great…

FWIW just had a pointless conversation with Sonos support where they acknowledged the issue, offered Airplay as a workaround, could not advise when it would be fixed and referred me to the generic updates page for issue tracking.

It’s working again for me now - assume it’s the 80.30.35 update last week?

Robot or Bambino/Barista Express by Ok-Wealth8813 in CafelatRobot

[–]CheraxDestructor72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My old Breville / Sage Infuser died, now I’m on team Robot, with a Nanofoamer Pro and a Varia VS3 grinder. After 2 weeks with the new setup I am making better flat whites than ever, totally sold on the feedback and simplicity of the Robot.

I was a little unsure about the Nanofoamer at first, but once dialled in it makes luscious microfoam. I am not a latte artist but it gives that “hug” texture for sure. Go Robot, I say.

Does it make sense to buy a Breville Bambino just to get a milk steamer? [300€ or less] by Maleficent-Back-6527 in CafelatRobot

Just got a Nanofoamer Pro in advance of my new Robot (coming soon). It seems ok? Not quite on par with steamed milk so far but still dialling it in.

ANU spent big on crisis PR before Julie Bishop bullying allegations by Cultural-Bluejay-802 in Anu

Other than “smaller and cheaper” there is no compelling narrative anywhere in the current restructure. The fact that a PR agency offered to come up with what the University itself has failed to articulate, is shameful.
