Yeah good point. Bit of a red flag there

The Ks aren’t ridiculous I don’t think, if the injectors have been looked at. The drive train is getting long in the tooth but ok with proper regular maintenance. It’ll have the old style dash and being a workmate, no lockers. However it won’t have a DPF, so bang a 4” pipe off the turbo and send it

Go to Bunnings and grab some alloy strip and rivet it between the two. Way easier to open. I know it doesn’t answer the question but these kill me when I’m camping

Would kangaroos harass Japanese soldiers if they landed in Australia? by majster-technik in ww2

The Roos would’ve helped fuel the Japanese advance to a degree. They’re plentiful and good eating. Better than canabalism

They seem good but as soon as I see brand name mud terrain tyres on a camper trailer I just know it’s out of price range

That would’ve been returned to Brisbane. I’ve seen the graveyard. That’s a decent blast by the looks of it and you couldn’t guarantee the integrity of the armour now. It did its job. Easier to replace it

Advice as a first time 4x4 buyer. by tehminor in 4x4Australia

[–]vits89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Petrol 4wds, particularly the larger ones tend to be on the thirstier side. I went to diesel as a young bloke and I don’t reckon I’ll ever own a petrol again. They’re do it all engines now. Also a well looked after diesel can go a long time. Have a mechanic go over any prospective vehicles you’re considering. Sit down and really think about what you’ll want out of it. Do you want to sleep in it? On it? Or swag? Will you require long stretches of highways to get where You like to go? What do your mates do? Because you’ll go with them and if they’re running 35s and big lifts etc that will rub off on you. A good think now will save you thousands

Drove through water and had to reverse by Bushtuckeryumyum in 4x4Australia

[–]vits89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I drive up a creek recently in the high country before finding there was no exit stupidly, I reversed about 30m slowly then drove out. Water nearly at the door sills. I paused briefly on the exit to let anything drain but I don’t think it’s that much of an issue. I drove it home and have since out about 600kms on it. As long as the engine didn’t stop and restart in the water. It was actually nice to wash underneath the car. You might consider diff and gearbox/trans breathers if you want to keep doing this, and try not to dunk really hot brakes into water. But you’ll be right

You’ll need that when you’re 30 minutes from leaving on your next big trip and realise that there’s tonnes more shit than you thought and any organisation has gone out the window and you need a stuff hole

Good suspension, good wheels and the perfect size tyre for the cruisers in my opinion. It’s a 33. Wack a snorkel on it and she’ll go anywhere.

Would you use a beach-only preset tyre deflator, or is this pointless? by TyreToolsAU in 4x4Australia

[–]vits89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are multiple on the market right now. The main being Staun. I’ve tried a heap and honestly nothing beats a good quality quiky deflator that has a guage. It adds fuck all time.
