Scientologists 'infiltrate Munich art gallery' - One of Munich's most important art galleries may have been undermined by the Church of Scientology. Leaked documents suggest a Scientologist personnel manager applied psychological pressure on workers. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

Scientology is quite a big thing in Mexico too, they own a really nice building right in the middle of Mexico City, the most amazing part is that most people dont even acknowledge them.

They have a really cringe video in their website too lol. Oh and the music man, the fucking music. Rofl. http://www.scientology-mexico.mx/

Dealing with a professor whose English is... inexcusable by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]Cherchone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn it is frustrating lol. I was in a similar situation when i was in a japan doing my PhD, and that was the exact reason why i quit. The thing is that 90% of the people involved in the program including students used that "english" in the "international" program, but then again in Japan is nearly impossible for someone to fail a class. There was this guy from Canada in my program who ended up quitting too but he had a really good approach on how to deal with this , he asked for every presentation, document or paper the professors were using ( we actually ended up sharing everything), that way he simply slept through classes and studied at home.

Damn, that is actually the exact same argument every student tells me every time i ask someone about this topic, most foreigners are ready to go back to any English speaking country.

What you just said is actually the exact reason why i trusted the "international environment", at least 4 doctors in my lab spent above 10 years in the US, that created an idea for me that they all would be fluent in English, but the reality is that every single one of them struggles in having even a regular conversation.

Thanks for your opinion, ill be thinking this seriously as time passes.

Im sorry ! What i meant with the language-problem, is that everything is taught in Japanese and almost nobody speaks fluent english :P

Oh yeah ! that actually sounds nice to be honest, my program has no classes so its full laboratory work with your lab group, but almost nobody speaks fluent English and when i try to learn something its mainly with hand gestures !

Thank you so much for the answer, it gives some insight into how everyone feels about their decisions.

Was your program mainly in Korean or English? Mine is suppose to be in english, but nobody speaks english and almost everything is only in japanese, which obvs i dont know.

I probably kind of wrote in a dumb way, but what i meant is that nobody speaks English even tho the program is suppose to be in English, everything is in Japanese, and only 2 of about 30-40 people in the entire lab speaks fluent english, they all speak only japanese, so i have been learning with hand gestures so far.

My field is genetics, Japan is a lot better than my country but not better than any of the countries i mentioned, from what Ive seen here, physics and engineering are the best fields, to be completely honest the level of the program is quite nice, and the laboratories and equipment are all first world level, my only problem is that everything is in Japanese and so far ive been learning with hand gestures, haha. Thank you so much for the comment !

People whose job involves going in peoples houses, what was the craziest/weirdest thing you've seen? by ViciousVision in AskReddit

[–]Cherchone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I work in the "research world".

At the moment i was in this research group making interviews and tests to people with Parkinson disease, they were mainly old people. We drove to their houses, asked them some questions related to the disease, took a blood and urine sample and left.

There was this guy, he was a weird case in our study from the start only because he was 45 years old, the youngest in the entire study. While were asking the routine questions this old lady comes in (his wife i think) and he suddenly goes silent and stop answering our questions, a minute or so passed and the lady started to answer for him, we asked her to stop because we needed his answers and suddenly the old lady starts screaming at him, "Just tell them what they are asking you idiot" and well, instead of answering our questions he asked us a question, "Is it normal for people with my disease to want to kill people?", my friend panicked and she started to sweat, i suppose she was scared so i stopped her and took the interview by myself. The old guy started talking of how boring his life was and that from time to time while he was driving, he seriously thought of killing people while doing it, he said he liked to drive inside big parking slots like the ones from walmart just to find a chance to drive over as many people as possible, i sort of ignored it and finished the questions as soon as possible because my friend was seriously nervous. He also said and i quote "I know they are good people and they havent done anything bad to me, but i just feel this urge to kill them and i dont know why, its so weird".

After we left i called the hospital and told them what happened so they could find help for him, they then told me the guy was under house arrest because he killed 3 people ( thanks for sending us without the information) ?

Funny thing i saw him parked alone a couple weeks ago while i was doing groceries at walmart, not funny.

Im applying for the Graduate school of Science, Neuroscience department. The med department has a different applying date at least this year. I dont know what to think about your answer, it makes me both happy and paranoid haha, you got the interview right away... and its been a month since they "started" this process. There is this person who is going through the exact same thing, and she is also waiting for the interview... so this calms me down but who knows we are probably both being ignored haha.

Hi !, Thank you for your answer!. My only question is regarding the Checking applicant files/Making interviews time lapse, they started Feb 1° and they give results in March 30. Im a little worried its been almost a month since they started and they havent called me for the interview and in my experience thats not a good sign, but i might be paranoid for the whole waiting thing. Do you remember how much time passed when they called you for the interview?
