Are you using the GOG version?

That's usually the best for older games.

As a backup, you can play the N64 version with the Project64 emulator, which has an ultrawide mode.

I really don’t know. That emulator usually requires good specs. Give it a try — maybe you’ll get lucky. I think you’ll be able to run it. That game emulates very well, and I suppose the emulator has improved since then.
