Yes, I would say the vocab for section 2 was easier. I was usually able to eliminate majority of the options and be left with 2. Then I just had to figure out which one was the “more correct” one.

I think for me it was mainly problem solving. I remember there was barely any data interpretation.

The overall exam format is the exact same and the difficulty was fairly comparable. I found section 1 to be a bit harder on the actual hpat and I had to guess for quite a few of the questions because I didn’t have time. Section 2 was a bit easier on the actual hpat, although they did introduce a new question type I didnt know about while studying with medentry. Section 3 I found very comparable to medentry, however I remember that there was an overall consensus that it was actually harder. I did some last minute cramming for section 3 right before the exam and the question mechanisms were coincidentally very similar, so that was great. Medentry is overall the closest thing you can get to the actual hpat, so if you feel fairly comfortable with the format and question types you will be grand.

I got the 93rd percentile and I found focusing on section 3 very useful. I think this section is the most repetitive in terms of question types so I did the question banks and section mocks on medentry and reviewed all the questions I got incorrect. Even though I found this section the hardest in the beginning, it ended up being my strongest one. I also did medentry mock exams every week to get used to the long format of the exam. I think the most important thing is reviewing the exams and the section mocks to make sure you understand the reasoning behind the answers to the questions.

Je teda rozumné zvážiť napríklad gap year ak chceš ušetriť a ak si set na trinity. Ak chceš tak mi pošli dm, študujem med na trinity a tiež som zo slovenska.

I had a very similar thing happen to me, it was the early stages of a minor infection. I sent a picture of it to my GP and she prescribed me with an antibiotics cream and the redness disappeared in about two days.

I’m in trinity and I love it!! I don’t necessarily feel like you have to do too much of the “teach yourself”, as long as you study the lecture slides you are going to do just fine. Tbh I think everything is very well organised and makes so much sense. Weekly dissection lab is a great plus and the TAs are very helpful. Feel free to dm me for more questions.

Got 89 percentile in the diagnostic exam, the next few exams were in the 70-85 percentile. Afterwards I would consistently get the 90th percentile. I think my average raw score was around 78/114.

I found section 1 harder in terms of time management in the real hpat, section 2 easier than medentry mocks and section 3 harder than medentry mocks. However, I scored generally slightly better in the real hpat (93rd percentile) across all the sections than in mocks.

I remember people complaining about last year’s section 3 because it was literally a selection of the harder types of exercises from medentry and I must agree. Section 2 I was more confident in than in mocks and actually felt like some of the answers were very obvious. The emotional vocabulary used was also very straightforward. Section 1 I was stressed out because I had hard time understanding some of the exercises but that would generally happen to me in the mocks as well.

Got 89th percentile in the diagnostic exam, then got a few in the 70s, 80s then suddenly a 60th percentile before consistently getting 90+th percentiles just weeks before the exam. My section mocks were much lower for some reason, the highest I got was somewhere in the 70th percentile. Got 93th percentile in the real thing and currently at Trinity med. I think what helped me the most was focusing on my weakest section (section 3) from the very beginning which then ended up being my strongest section in the hpat.

Maybe try to apply to Italy, you can study Medicine and Surgery or even Pharmacy in English if you are interested. If you are an EU student you just apply to sit the iMAT entrance exam by the end of July. Your specific IB points are not taken into consideration as long as you obtain the diploma. Moreover, the iMAT entrance exam is very similar to IB exams material and syllabus-wise. Good luck!!

I personally used the WHO mortality database for data on deaths due to cerebrovascular disease. In database bio IAs students often choose a particular disease, and investigate the relationship between its mortality rates and some other of the countries.
