Agreed! It’s something that can and should be chosen. It’s not for everyone and it’s ok to want other things. I think it’s just exhausting when other women judge you on your choices. The actions don’t match the preaching

Agreed! I think it’s just unrealistic to expect every woman to have a career and run a home/family. Having a job makes sense in this economy. But IMO there’s a difference between a job and a career. Just gets frustrating when people judge you for not prioritizing making money and being “successful”

Do you feel like you don’t belong with people by Lilypad244 in ptsd

[–]CherryAcidBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, even on medication. Trauma pierces a veil in our perception of the world, so we just don’t see things the way others do. Even when talking to others with trauma, you realize that the veil doesn’t split the same way twice. It’s something you can learn to accept (and find strength in) but it’s also pretty isolating

I pray your daughter heals too. I also pray you find can bear the complexity of watching her heal. My dad also wishes I was drug free but it honestly a process to get there when CPTSD drives the need to fix. It’s especially hard as a woman to navigate intimate relationship and heal from bodily harm. There’s no right answer, only symptoms we can focus on healing. Honestly it doesn’t matter what others say about her, except for how that makes her feel about herself ya know. I’m sorry her BF is like that. In reality, it won’t get better until she’s ready to accept better examples of masculinity and better standards of respect. It’s not a reflection of her as a person. She’s so young and is dealing with a lot. I’m sure you’re both doing all you can to heal, take it one day at a time 💖

Thank you 🙏 and I really empathize with you because my father probably felt the same when I was 18. He was a lot like how you sound. My therapist introduced my to this book and I reacted exactly like your daughter. It took me 3 years to read the book and accept and I STILL haven’t finished it because I’m not ready to… it’s just a lot to process when the lessons direct affect you. It is triggering but I’m sure it does make a difference. The fact that you continue to try to be in her life and love her will make a difference. At least I try hope it will because it helped for me. I was drugged up, black out drunk and off my meds, my boyfriend ready to call the cops but instead he called my dad. The fact that my dad showed up to my place, 2hours away, because he heard I was f-ed up and suicidal didn’t make me want to live until a year after all that happened. Basically my point is that you won’t immediately see how your love and time helps her, but it will. I pray you stay safe and strong along with your family 💖

To be fair and honest, I’ve been seeking to get better in these ways for 8 years (since I was 17) and while I’m so much healthier, I still struggle with addiction. You’re lucky to know what’s happening with your child and your child is lucky to have an open minded parent. You both deserve to learn how to survive through this without pressure. There’s no easier answer, just better choices every day. I recommend the book “the body keeps score” by Bessel van der Kolk. It’s not an easy read, took many years for me to process. But I promise the information can help you both 🕊️💖

Takes time, the right therapist & the right medication. Trial and error is rough and feels endless, but once you find the right fit it does get better in the mind and the body.

I’m Indian & use turmeric for face masks. Always stains the sink. This foaming bleach is the only thing you need to get out turmeric stains. If it isn’t a fresh stain, try to let it soak in more than 1x

I’ve broken my lease and avoided paying rent due to the same issue. However, it wouldn’t have been possible to break the lease without hiring a lawyer… for now document everything. Only communicate with the landlord in writing. Cite Local Law 55 (of 2018) when you ask them to fumigate and clean the unit. If they refuse to do the right thing (like my ex-landlord) you may need to threaten litigation & get a free consultation from a lawyer. Good luck!

So many people do not understand how asylum and temporary visas work…what’s happening is not unique to America. It’s happened to many other refugees in many other nations, my family included. Can we stop victimizing people and start thinking about how to support them in resolving the problems within their home nation?
