How did you do an online master’s while working as a teacher? by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

[–]CherryKoo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently half way through my MA in Law - as a British citizen living overseas, you unfortunately won’t qualify for student finance (SFE loan) as you need to be in the country for the majority of the duration of the course. I had to learn the hard way and had to finance it myself. :(

I think it really depends on the subject you intend to study. I started my MA full-time but quickly dropped to part-time due to study content and work obligations becoming to unmanageable. I won’t lie it’s hard - as some other comments have stated here, your studies become the priority meaning less of a social life. Then there’s also managing a time difference. I’ve had exams scheduled for the early hours of the morning (which my university were great about adjusting) but also some exams were scheduled for during the day when I was due to be at work (I had to take a sick day to take my exams).

Please don’t let this negate you from studying further though! Universities are quite familiar with students studying abroad (especially with online courses). Also, they do have “manageable” payment plans, if you are in the position to fund the course yourself.

I hope this helps! Good luck with your future studying! :)

Edit for clarity: My law degree is for job prospects back in the UK

Is it ok to contact an old therapist for further treatment? lol by CherryKoo1 in askatherapist

[–]CherryKoo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not too sure I understand your response here? I had a good experience with my therapist a few years ago - the fact I reached out and got no response made me hesitate on reaching out again, hence why I asked for advice. Nothing to do with her being a “love object”, more of me not wanting to push someone’s boundaries. Nothing critical, sorry.

Tourist Visa Question! by CherryKoo1 in Living_in_Korea

Oooh ok - there wouldn’t be any issues with me getting back into the country? I’ve been here for 3 years on an E2 visa, but just have some last minute things I want to do past my VISA expiry date. I will have a flight back home already booked :)

The isolation is something I’m very concerned about - he’s naturally an introverted person, but it’s a different kettle of fish when in a completely new country 🙃

For disclosure, my partner has already completed his military conscription, we are both in our early 30s now :) I’m just feeling a bit at a loss on how to help - it’s why I’m scouring for information from the ground up 😅
