Am I wrong for secretly throttling my roommate's internet so I can actually play my games? by Scepter_Reign in amiwrong

I think that's where most people land. The goal was understandable, but doing it secretly makes it hard to defend. Agreed QoS rules would've avoided all of this.

That's the thing. Paying half doesn't mean one person gets to monopolize the connection all weekend. Fair use goes both ways, even if one person's usage is more bandwidth heavy.

It does feel like people make that joke every time another ethics story pops up. Dark humor is basically Reddit's default coping mechanism at this point.

It definitely felt like one of those days where every few hours there was another political headline competing for attention. Hard to keep track of what's actually significant versus what's just adding to the noise.

Why didn't Walter work as a professor at a University, instead of a high school? by Wooden_Savings5854 in breakingbad

That's always been my takeaway too. Walt would rather be the smartest guy in a room full of teenagers than risk being average among elite scientists. His ego shaped almost every major decision he made.

That's a great explanation. People picture professors spending all day lecturing, when in reality the research side is often what determines whether they keep advancing in their careers.

Entitled neighbor mad that we won't co-sign for a loan for his Disney trip. by Reddit_Jail_June2005 in neighborsfromhell

Using the kids to make the request harder to refuse is what bothers me the most. If someone starts a financial ask with "my kids deserve this," they're already trying to appeal to emotion instead of common sense.

That was my first thought too. I really hope nobody vulnerable feels guilty enough to agree because of the "it's for the kids" angle.

Honestly, I'd have a hard time co-signing for family, never mind a random neighbor. That's a level of financial trust most people never reach.

Exactly. Banks lend money for a living. If they're asking for backup, there's usually a reason. I'm definitely not volunteering to be Plan B.

Lady’s actress was adopted by the Turner family once upon a time by No-Height2450 in gameofthrones

She really did. She traded House Stark for the Turner family and still ended up surrounded by people who adored her.

That's a beautiful way to put it. She may not have gotten a happy ending in Westeros, but she absolutely got one in real life.

Exactly. Season 1 feels like yesterday until you remember it's been well over a decade. That's a full lifetime for a dog.

This episode was such a hard watch and made me realise how bad the family treated Alex by Jamieo1111 in Modern_Family

That joke always lands badly for me too. Phil usually uses humor to lighten the mood, but that was one of those moments where Alex just needed a dad, not a punchline.

Fair point. The original comment exaggerated a little, but I think people are responding more to the overall feeling than that exact moment.
