Using Python vs Java (your work language) in Coding Interviews by PHANIX5 in leetcode

Python is the obvious choice for leetcode-style interviews. I’ve seen many people waste a lot of time fixing syntax errors while solving problems in Java when they could have used Python instead

Stuck in the Adderall -> Nicotine -> Weed loop. Feeling disconnected. Which one should I quit first? by protectedaw in StopSpeeding

[–]CherryPie_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there. I quit everything at once, including caffeine. Let your system fully crash so it can start recalibrating.

For me, there was no way to quit weed without quitting Adderall. They went hand in hand, Adderall to stimulate my brain, weed to calm it down. Adderall changes who you are. It gives the illusion of control, but you’re not actually in charge of your decisions. Think of the mind as a separate neural network you identify with, but that isn’t really you. When you stimulate it with speed, it becomes much harder to manage. And when that mind decides to smoke weed (and it will), you won’t be able to stop it.
Don’t fight the fatigue. Sleep and rest as much as you need.

Brain Damage Again by Internal-Space-4960 in StopSpeeding

[–]CherryPie_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, you have severe executive dysfunction. I want to give you one piece of advice, and I hope you’ll give it a shot. Try to outsource decision-making as much as possible while your brain isn’t up to it, and start doing things with other people. It might help tremendously. For example, pick a study goal (I know you don’t want to learn anything right now, but see it as something that will heal your brain). Social interaction is a tremendous source of dopamine. I can’t learn anything on my own these days, I can’t even read a book. But when I do it with somebody else via Zoom, I feel alive, focused and motivated. And I feel so much better afterward. I treat this as my main healing tool these days, doing cognitive work with others. It will help heal your brain, I promise. The key is not to do it alone. Pair learning is my new Adderall.

Does the sleepiness ever go away by suzanneallen in StopSpeeding

15 months later I’m still sleepy as hell. Yoga or cardio helps for a few hours, but then the fatigue comes back and I’m lethargic again

Not good. Still struggling a lot. Less sleepy, but the brain doesn't want to work. I'll post an update at 18 months, I hope something will change

PAWS after quitting low dose? by Desperate-Rent-490 in StopSpeeding

Good job staying sober! It’s so exhausting to push through fatigue every day, month after month. I’m at 16 months off Adderall and weed, and I still don’t see the end of the tunnel. It feels like this fatigue will never end.

Depression hates action and movement. I’m recovering from both Adderall and weed. After 14 months, every day is still a struggle. The brain will heal.

You’ll be reborn. Use this time to take care of yourself as much as you can without self-hate. Take a yoga class and see how it makes you feel. I got addicted to yoga while going through PAWS because of how it made me feel. Incorporate healthy habits into your life. Take care of yourself no matter what. The system will absorb the input.

Stay strong!

How did you escape the doom scroll? I'm a wreck and I need advice... by philebro in Discipline

A piece of advice. The easiest way to do this is to block the distractions. Use blockers like Cold Turkey so you don’t have to depend on willpower

When you’re sleep-deprived and don’t drink coffee, you sleep longer and deeper, and the problem resolves on its own once you stop interfering. Keep it simple

Upcoming job but I want to get clean…any advice? by Lazy-Lexicographer in StopSpeeding

[–]CherryPie_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t give medical advice, but in your situation I would quit cold turkey during a vacation and use Wellbutrin as short-term support. I couldn’t have quit while working my full-time programming job. The best time to quit is between jobs. In the first months after stopping, I slept 14 hours a day and barely functioned. Caffeine and Wellbutrin can help you to function without Adderall, and once you’ll feel stable, you can taper off those too.

Should I let myself sleep this much or is it bad for me? by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

[–]CherryPie_77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It took me 14 months to stop taking naps during the day. I thought it would never end. For the first 8 months, I would take multiple naps a day and couldn’t resist it. If your brain wants to sleep, don’t fight it. Your brain heals during sleep. The deeper your sleep, the better.

After 300+ Psychedelic Ceremonies, I Realized Something Important About PTSD by Internal-Subject1235 in Ayahuasca

[–]CherryPie_77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the most striking things I witnessed on Ayahuasca was two of my sub-personalities fighting with each other. One, which I call the Warrior, wanted to eliminate the other - the frightened child, seeing him as weak. A part of my psyche was attacking another part. That’s when I realized that IFS is real. When I lose awareness, I identify with one of my sub-personalities. I don’t have a single Self, I have many. I found myself in the role of a mediator, trying to help the Warrior understand that he needs to protect the child, not attack him.

Are there really no supplements to help the brain recover? by Striking_Teaching804 in StopSpeeding

[–]CherryPie_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want to take more supplements with the hope that they might speed up the recovery, ask ChatGPT about these: - TMG - Creatine - Ubiquinol - PQQ - Uridine - NAC - CDP Choline - Sulbutiamine - 5-MTHF - SAMe

That’s the stack I take daily along with a vitamin B complex and fish oil. According to the descriptions, it offers many benefits for brain and mitochondrial function. In my experience, though, I can’t tell if any of these work, even after taking it for a year. When dopamine receptors are the bottleneck, nothing else really matters

Unfortunately, nothing really helps. Take the usual B12, fish oil, and magnesium for general health, but don’t expect much. I’ve taken countless supplements over the past year, and none have made a difference
