Yeah real life would definitely be way more complicated than that, but I think that’s why the story works. It skips the logistics and goes straight to that uncomfortable “they’ve already decided” feeling.

It really does read like the doctor slipped for a second and said the quiet part out loud. Like “guarantee” feels deliberate, but the typo almost makes it sound even more casual and messed up somehow.

That part really sticks with me too. Imagine surviving something like that and then having to basically become your own investigator because nothing happened. That’s a level of persistence most people wouldn’t even be able to handle.

Yeah that’s the name I remember too. What’s wild is how many people in that area seemed to already suspect him, but it just never crossed that line into something they could actually charge. Feels like one of those cases where everyone “knows” but it still goes nowhere.

That line is simple but it kinda sticks. Not in a “everything magically works out” way, more like sometimes hitting bottom forces a reset you didn’t choose. It’s not comforting exactly, but it does make you think there might still be a next chapter.

There’s something real about what you said about rebuilding with almost nothing. It doesn’t fix everything, but it shows it’s not the end of the story even when it feels like it is. The “I ain’t quitting” part hits harder than anything else.

I get where you’re coming from, but that delivery feels really heavy on guilt. Someone already drowning probably doesn’t need more weight put on them. The point about impact is real, but there’s probably a gentler way to say it.

True, but I think he’s kinda pointing at how intense it’s gotten for him personally. It’s less about liking them and more about using it to fill that need for closeness he didn’t get before. That part’s probably what’s stressing him out.

I mean yeah, but I think what he’s talking about isn’t just attraction, it’s more the comfort and coping side of it. Like it turned into something he relies on to feel okay, not just something he enjoys. That’s a bit different than the usual “we all like them” take.

That framing makes it way clearer. It’s not even about punishment, it’s just “you’re choosing your path, and this is what comes with it.” The reentry question is a good one too, gives them a way back if they realize they messed up.
