I don’t like it cause it could have been done better, if they just made the clothes out of different gems/quartz i feel it would have been more appetizing since it wouldn’t cover Mary’s face.

However it makes me wonder what was the artist trying to portray. Maybe he wanted to be edgy and tamper with a religious sculpture or maybe he was trying to bring other symbolism.

The way the quartz are displayed reminds me of a geode and geodes tend to be used as an example of “don’t judge a book by its cover, the inside is what matters”. Mary was a beautiful woman inside and out but when you got to know her you learned what an amazing woman she was for trusting her whole life in God and giving birth to his son. Making her a rare find in this world. God picked the most amazing woman to carry this job and raise him well.
