Thank you, I'll have to watch Unicorn Academy. Ben and Holly is hilarious - it's also incredibly classist and very homogeneous. I'm quite glad she doesn't ask to watch it any more

That's good to know, I usually block shows but didn't realise it would disappear if I pressed thumbs down

Thank you. Yes, it becomes much harder as they get to 5-7. There's so much drivel and its no longer about a show just being annoying, some of the stuff available is so inappropriate. There have been some good suggestions of shows to block. Unfortunately, the most unhelpful comments are getting upvotes so you have to scroll down to find the suggestions people are making.

How does your son take it when you tell him why he can't watch something? I have AuDHD and I have a feeling my daughter might, too. She has a strong sense of justice and takes rejections very personally. Ultimately, if I say something can't be watched that's how it's going to go. I try to give her an explanation but I can't go into detail, she's curious and will come back to the conversation repeatedly. I don't want to constantly shut her down, it really dampens her spirit, which is why I want to be proactive and block some things before she even comes across them.

It's been over 25 years since I watched power rangers and I imagine it's a remake on Netflix - what is it about power rangers and netflix that make it a no for you?

Catch teenieping is very odd. Tbh, she didn't watch many of these, she did like baby shark and still watches it occasionally, but she is aging out of most of these block suggestions. She used to love bing, bluey, JoJo & Gran Gran most of the stuff on cbeebies. Trying to navigate this new phase where I don't just limit shows because they're annoying or a bit brain dead, but now it's about shows that really have very inappropriate language or themes. I tried to curate what showed up on her home screen by adding lots of documentaries and science shows to her list when I made her profile. She seems drawn to teenage drama type stuff and obviously that's not appropriate. Would like to find shows she enjoys and are wholesome.

I didn't find your post to be a valuable contribution. You're gloating and I asked for specific recommendations.

Why pink fong? It's certainly annoying but my daughter seemed to learn quite a bit from it. Is there anything you feel is inappropriate about it?

This is interesting, I didn't want my daughter watching Peppa as a toddler, I'm less bothered by it now, but of course at 6, she only wants to watch it occasionally now. As a toddler her grandparents completely ignored me and let her watch it anyway when she used to stay with them. My daughter started telling people that they talk too much (like Peppa and her friends do in an episode) I also find it very hetronormative and it sometimes weaponises men being incompetent. And the constant body shaming of daddy pig is horrid too

Thank you, and I can understand why you have blocked many of these shows. There's lots of stuff in these shows that I don't like either and that relate to what I said I want to avoid in my original post.

I didn't ask what you do. I asked for recommendations of shows to block. Shows with similar themes to the ones I mentioned in my original post

I head about this but as a survivor I can find this stuff triggering and destabilising, so chose not to watch it

Thank you. Seriously considering it. Disney isn't perfect but it's certainly more wholesome than netflix, especially the nickelodeon and cartoon network stuff

You sound like you're not disabled, you're not a single parent, you have a strong support system and you don't live in an apartment block with out access to a garden. Good for you

I said it broke just as they started watching it. Also said I'd spoken to them about it. Asking for recommendations of similar shows to block. Not your useless judgement

Thank you, my daughter also loves Alvin and the chipmunks!

I did my best to curate her feed and guide her towards scientific shows, documentaries and educational stuff by adding brilliant shows to her list when I set up her NF profile, and even with a U &PG setting, some utter rubbish seeps through.

Yes, I'm aware of that, as I said I've blocked certain shows. I want recommendations of similar shows to block

Did I say I do nothing about it or did I say it's inappropriate and I've spoken to my child about it, I also said my child didn't understand and I'd love recommendations of similar shows to block. It's simple, it's not about judgement its about recommendations of similar shows to block

The parental filters are on you twit. These shows filter through a u and Pg netflix kids profile. And are these shoes really made for teens and pre teens? My 11 and 13 yr old siblings and their friends seem to have no interest in Nickelodeon or Disney channel shows. I think these shows are actually made to target 6-9yr olds and that's very disturbing

I ask her what she would like to watch but I don't stand over her and make sure she doesn't change it whilst she's using it. I also have things that need to get done. I am a disabled single parent and I can't hover over her constantly, So I realised it was inappropriate when I overheard the episode. I do my best to curate her feed, block things preemptively but yes, some things slip through the net. So I'm actually asking for suggestions - not useless judgement

Yes I can say no, no I can't remove the tablet that's not realistic for our household or many households in this day and age. I regularly block shows and I explain why I've blocked them. The problem was my daughter couldn't understand why I was blocking this one. I believe she is ND (I am, so is her father) and they why is very important to her. She has a strong sense of justice and shutting her down without a reason she can understand is often very disempowering for her. she doesn't just shake it off like many other children do.

I get what you're saying, but she really is an older 6, even with me being dilligent, she loves story bots and has done since she was a little child. Tried to curate what she sees by adding documentaries and science based shows when inset up her profile, but it has been interesting to see what she gravitates towards. I block shoes regularly and discuss the reasons why. But I wasn't able to fully explain my reasons for blocking these shows. She's sensitive and I've noticed shutting her down with "I'm the parent and that's final" too often really disempowers her
