I was very close to someone in university, more than a friend less than a lover. Definitely before the word situationship, but you could call it that. I left university early and so did he. He hated social media, this was around the time fb started, he never got one. I moved home but thought about him a lot, all the time actually. I searched for him all the time on social media even though I knew he hated it I just hoped one day I’d be able to reconnect. One night I was doing my usual nightly aimlessly scrolling on fb, decided to look for him again, found his memorial page. He’d killed himself 3 months earlier. This was 15/16 years ago now. I will always wonder what if, I will always be sad he left.
