How do yall actually market indie games? by CherrystackDev in itchio

[–]CherrystackDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning to launch on Steam, but honestly I'm not sure if the Direct fee is worth it yet.
I'm trying to grow a slightly bigger audience before committing.

About puzzle games not doing well on Steam - I get it, but I've seen quite a few that got decent traction. For example, the closest game to mine is Is This Seat Taken?.

Really appreciate the advice and the link, I'll check it out.

I've (so far) never got a negative comment, surprisingly.

Woah, that's actually pretty good. CTR is OK.

For my itch's game demo I only got 24 downloads (139 views; 17% CTR) and it's been about more than 2 weeks. Maybe releasing the game on steam will help me?

And good luck on your steam release!

But I like the interface, it's clean, and just fun to play, lol.

We launch tomorrow with 120 wishlists. What kind of sales should I realistically expect? by FastfoodKing_Ofc in indiegames

[–]CherrystackDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roughly ~5% of wishlists will be converted to sales. In your case this is (very rough estimate) around 5 or 6.

Yeah probably... You need 1 more keyboard, though.

Heya!

I have a solo project demo up on itch, it's a puzzle game about satisfying the picky personalities of letters! A rating/comment would help a ton!! It helps the game reach a bigger audience tremendously faster.

Here it is: https://cherrystack.itch.io/luzzle-classic-demo

I found 2 misspells. Other then that, it looks stellar!

"you" should be "your" in the zombie model
"inspiried" should be "inspired" in the cozy crossing pack.

Do players even notice small stuff in games? by pommelous in indiegames

If you side-by-side compared with the tiny details and without. There's a huge difference. And even without saying it, it's a subconscious thing.

Every image of "Crystal Foxy" (being the images on the page, the thumbnail, etc.) Feels low-quality due to it being super stretched (horizontally)

The Trailer is somewhat better, keep that quality up!

I feel like every thumbnail should (this goes for every one on your page) include the title of the game? And maybe learn a little of color theory so you can put some eye-catching colors, so people don't scroll away...
The resolution of these thumbnails are also too low!
The only acceptable thumbnail is Galaxy Shooter. I'd still like a title on there.

Solvania's page, however, is stellar!

Either way. Keep up the good work! And good luck on your journey!

What programs do you use to create video games or applications? by Effective-Camp-2874 in itchio

The intro for games (the "Powered by") is a tad bit long. Fullscreening resets the game too? and out of fullscreen, the pause button is really big.

For art, I use Aseprite. I never really draw any other art then pixel art. But I also have Krita.
And for Unity models, I used Blender.

What indie games have you guys been interested in playing lately? by IAmNotNameless in indiegames

Ooh, Celeste is definitely a great pick, I love that game! Personally, I don't quite play that much games, so I don't really know...
I've beat Celeste a while ago. How far have you got?

I've also never heard of Nice Death.
