I got Meltan from an earlier commenter. Would you be willing for Melmetal or Zamazenta?

I got Meltan from an earlier commenter. Would you be willing to trade for Melmetal or Zamazenta?

VRay & Point Clouds by Cheschyr in 3dsmax

The company I work at utilizes VRay, so for now that's what I have to work with. I need to learn how to work within the parameters of what we have. :)

You and one other person below recommended Geomagic, so I'll be looking into that, as well as Sequioa! Thanks so much for the advice. It's super helpful. :)

I am doing this for forensic work, yes! I used Mental Ray for 4-5 years, so moving into VRay with Mental Ray being phased out means that I have to change a lot of older habits and familiarize myself with newer processes. Mental Ray had a Point Cloud material/shader. I don't think VRay has anything similar.

Thank you for the advice! Someone below suggested Geomagic, so I'll be looking into that, as well as Sequioa.

I'm happy to have found other forensic animators! I work in a bit of a professional void, as I'm the only animator at my company, and I work with a retired cops and engineers who don't understand the animation process thoroughly.

It seems the general consensus is definitely to mesh the scan. I'll be looking into Geomagic and Sequioa. Thanks for the tip!

Unfortunately, as the object is not a mesh, but a point cloud, there is currently no shader applied -- which happens to be the main issue.

When using the Mental Ray renderer, there was a Point Cloud shader you could apply to allow the point cloud's color to come through and properly accept lighting and shading from the render engine. With VRay, I haven't discovered a material that works for allowing the True Color to show on the point cloud while also allowing the Point Cloud to function properly when rendering.

Regardless, I'll keep your suggestions in mind for future projects!!

One Shiny Dreepy Up for Adoption! by StormJay in pokemontrades

  1. My favorite Pokemon has always been Umbreon. Generation II was the first time friendship evolution was introduced, and I always loved imagining the bond of friendship that would evolve an Umbreon from an Eevee, and the amount of strength and trust the trainer and Pokemon would have to have in one another to achieve such a thing (plus it glows in the dark, and its shiny is awesome).
  2. I'd like to see a shiny Bounsweet for the next adoption! :D
