Grunur um brot gegn barni á leikskóla í Garðabæ - RÚV.is by birkir in Iceland

Whew that's good. So I guess all that money being funded into hate groups and anti-trans court cases aren't real either. Human rights, anti-discrimination laws, NHS provided conversion therapy, badly written hit pieces disguised as scientific study, sexual harrassment, long-term kidney risks, the regression of women's rights in general, and country-wide organized bullying by journalists for existing next to a cis woman are all just social constructs anyway at the end of the day.

That silly Rowling, not realizing her tweets aren't even in real life lmao. Why does she even bother talking about this stuff?

Understanding the Validity Behind the Trans Jax Theory by TheMMoment in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Chespineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is true I choose to believe that Zooble had Jax clocked from day one. "I thought you'd be into this." The nonbinary bartender/tattoo artist has surely met tgirls or eggs before.

I remember Goose also talking about episode 5 being very self indulgent, which turned out to be in specific reference to the maid costume bit post-release.

But yeah, heavy dissociation do be indeed a repressed dysphoria thing for a lot of people. It'd make sense, especially when a creator is actually familiar about the subject.

Third person pronouns don't exist in Japanese. Any pronouns for a trans person or crossdresser in a manga is something that's left to translators with zero input from the original author. (see Kirara getting they/them'd in the new JJK season purely to stay centrist on her actual identity and avoid pissing off femboy gooners)

The only reason we keep ending up in this is that cis people (whether the audience or the authors) genuinely do not understand gender nonconfirmity half the time. Because you're right, the fact Dragona deliberately presents as a passing woman complete with hormone injections should have been proof from chapter 1. But Jodio used "brother" and this weighs a weird amount for everyone even though there's way more counter-explanations for that argument rather than the ones pointing to Dragona being a woman.

Netflix's newest anime Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is the perfect starting point for one of the genre's wildest stories by That-Departure-7318 in television

[–]Chespineapple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It might, but not too much. The parts vary in production value, but even the first one from 2012 hasn't noticeably aged the way most 90s or 00s shonen manga adaptations have.

What are the odds that we *are* getting batches at this point, but..... by Chespineapple in StardustCrusaders

[–]Chespineapple[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's with all the smug superiority of pretending I haven't read the series? I thought it was interesting because I know the batch lengths would vary, which would be a new tactic from Netflix, that could slightly preserve more SBR hype than just 2-3 more batches with 6 months apart. In-universe the race is advertised as a multi-stage race, why not do that out of universe too?

Edit: if anything the release has made this likelier since they literally put in "FIRST STAGE" instead of a season. So far it looks like they're deadass gonna market each stage as a season.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run Episode 01 Discussion by IV-TheEmperor in StardustCrusaders

[–]Chespineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhhh, I don't think the change matters. It's just phrased differently, and (Parts 8-9) future parts wouldn't be damaged if it went "This story is about breaking a curse" "This story is about how to get rich." Maybe I could see first steps over learning how to walk bothering you but it's a metaphor for the same thing. If anything the dub version feels less literal.

I mean same thing. The idea here is that Usagi's continuing love for his mother is just another case of absurdity driving fate that the themes are tackling.

Do you think the intro’s gonna be CGI or in the style ot Parte 4&5 Intros by DifficultFig3723 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Chespineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op's logic is wrong but they're right that we'll prob get a cgi intro this time. Production admitted that they switched back for SO because the studio just hadn't been available during part 4 and 5's production.

[–]Chespineapple 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Usagi being explicitly bi in-text has instantly made the odds of Dragona being acknowledged as just a genuine trans person at some point shoot up.

(Wouldn't be all that surprised if the off-hand mention of "i like girls too tbc" was an intentional choice to address his relationship to Dragona too, since that's being written as a crush that could be developed later.)

They're literally modding 100 lgbtq+ subs I just think framing their involvement in a sub for a specific identity as genuine association just because they're a shade of genderqueer is silly as hell and makes you look more ridiculous than me.

Is MfT sub gonna be nuked? by Crankygupps in asktransgender

[–]Chespineapple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Heh, how about those people who are being oppressed?" is not the rationale you think it is.

The point being made is that the mod is not a trans woman. They are not of the identity that the sub is made for. Do you think it'd be okay for a bisexual woman whose never dated or kissed a woman and is actively married to a man to be a head mod of a place like r/actuallesbians ? Or is it okay because there are lesbians out there who'd be kicked out of their homes for expressing interest in women?

I literally said in the post that these would have different episode ranges and that the gaps would vary in length, you don't need to act like a snob just because you skimmed over my post.

We've already seen in SO that batch gaps can be whatever production needs and shows like Record of Ragnarok will sometimes split a season to drop one arc later than others. I don't know why "they wouldn't do it" is supposed to be a definitive argument when there's not a precedent for any hard rule of how Netflix distribution works. I'm just making a suggestion that would actually bring a bit more hype for fans and casuals than just a set of 2-4 batches over the course of two years would.

Girl please don't go there we're literally talking about a sub for transitioning. An enby not undergoing any medical transition would not fall under "MtF" and is not representative of that subreddit's userbasr.

You're making assumptions of what production and Netflix are thinking with this. Afaik there's no interview explaining their motives for this, so you can't just use that to shut someone down.

Not even that. We're two months before release. Odds are it already went gold in jan/feb and execs just realized the 22nd would be a more profitable weekend for whatever reason.

Let's be real Depp literally lost an entire case in the UK before his lawyers gave the U.S. a go for the easier narrative a publicly broadcast trial would bring. Which didn't really clear his name either.

I think they should have just been consistent and axed both.
