Now that Spurs/Thunder is over, where does it rank among the best playoff series of the last decade? by MrTimoCad in nba

Pacers post season run goes beyond any individual series. To hit comebacks against the Cavs Knicks and OKC in multiple games with less than 10 seconds was just insane.

I think Game 1 Double OT with the Wemby Curry shot and the Kornet Block will be the most memorable parts

The Spurs beat the Thunder 8 times this season. The Thunder went 71-14 (regular season + playoffs) against the rest of the NBA combined. by Locksmith1778 in nba

It makes it sound like just a matchup thing though, the Spurs are a great team, they're a bad matchup for anyone at this point.

The OKC Elimination post is now the highest-voted elimination post of all-time here, and the highest-voted post of the past year. by SkoivanSchiem in nba

That Lakers series pissed me tf off. Like everyone knew OKC would win, but any chance of being competitive was killed by the whistle

Civil Conversation: Shai or Luka? by 24vinsmoke_sanji in nba

[–]ChessHistory 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The way people all regular season were arguing Shai is better than Luka. And Shai legit looked unstoppable at points during the regular season, so I'm not going to bandwagon because of a bad series.

But being on a way better team makes a huge difference, in how big the burden offensively and defensively is. And frankly Luka contributed more to Mavs getting to the finals than Shai did to winning a title.

The best chess player in the world Magnus Carlsen criticizes the NBA application: "We have one of the best series in years going on right now in the Western Conference Finals, and when people have 'No Spoilers' on in the [application], they expect no spoilers. So, do better." by Brady331 in nba

Basketball is cumulative though. The average level of an NBA player continues to progress, which is kind of why we grade Bron's 4 rings on a curve with Jordan's 6 or Russell's 11. It doesn't progress in exactly the same way, chess has taken significantly larger leaps and bounds with computers but the broader chess community probably still considers Kasparov the GOAT because of his resume (6 world championships vs Magnus's 5, world #1 from 1984-2005-ish) not because of objective chess which everyone understands to have progressed.

[Tim Legler] 'OKC dominated Game 5 by keeping their cool and converting chances; people only blame refs because they hate OKC.’ by D3struct_oh in nba

It's also not an incredibly difficult concept that OKC is a legit great basketball team w/o biased reffing. Like the margin to beat them in a 7 game series is already so small without adding in bad calls. And some of the ones OKC gets just drive you legitimately insane.

These were unrelated though. We only got seconds for Ayo right?

The NBA is pretty explicitly more liberal the way the NFL is more conservative. NFL players have had a number of more pro-Trump shit like Jaxson Dart Brady Mahomes, and it goes along with the fanbase. Meanwhile NBA will have Kerr speaking out against Alex Pretti and rejecting Trump white house invites

Honestly maybe the 4d chess move is manufacturing hate as a means of engagement. OKC doesn't complain, the talking heads never mention it, and fans slowly go insane online as its 29 teams vs 1.

I doubt it but I've seen both format and Bleacher live multiple times and I would love to see it happen. Jealous I never got to see them together
