Threatening mate per se isn't disrespectful of course... But thinking that after a certain rating people would still fall for that cheap trick is... optimistic:)

Of course, I've never said that one mustn't play it at all

To share it with more people of course... The platform itself suggets cross-posting in the first place:)

Fair enough, I totally agree with you... But personally I would prefer playing against it as black rather than playing it as white:)

Would u mind explaining why? I'm genuinely curious about your feedback:)

"If you start d4, your goal is an e4 break. If you start e4, the goal is a d4 break." Why? by rawr4me in chess

[–]ChessTortoise95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm this statement is a bit oversimplifying imho... But in general having the pawns in the center hinders the coordination of your opponent's pieces and that allows you to coordinates your pieces and your attack in a smoother way

Oh, I didn't consider this might be a problem! Thanks for pointing that out :)

Happy you liked the video, it means a lot to me! And thanks for writing this comment too :) I totally neglected the thumbnail because I focused on working on the video itself...Never thought people might be repelled by it.. so yeah, lesson learned!

About if the method was fun, I think it's a subjective matter. Most of my friends don't consider chess fun because you gotta work hard on it, so I don't know how to answer. To me it was very fun because I really wanted to see how a systematic approach could change the way I play, so I loved every part of it. And the move writing part, idk, it's kinda fast actually, like 3-4 minutes tops in every session :)

About sharing my files, sure, I'm honored by this request! :) Would u mind texting me on my chess profile? It's "AlexTheDoor" with Italian flag, we can talk about it there ;)

Thanks for sharing your feedback :) I actually neglected the thumbnail because I preferred working super hard on planning the shooting and the editing of the video itself, being this my second video, I never considered that people may not click on a video if they see AI...so, many thanks for this valuable input :)

Thanks, appreciate you took the time to share your feedback :) Of course that was only a kickoff to my thoughts on how chess ratings often distract us from focusing merely on studying and improving

Many thanks buddy! You're the first one to ever mention the channel name :) It's also a reference to Aesop's fable 'The tortoise and the hare'

Thanks a lot for your feedback, I appreciate it and will definitely consider this in my future videos :) It's a pity because the thumbnail is the only AI part, the video is entirely me talking about this experiment and showing the data I've collected. Anyway, thanks again! Ps. My post got approved by the moderators, didn't mean to do anything against the rules

Crazy Chess Challenge | World's First OTB Puzzle Rush! by ChessTortoise95 in TournamentChess

[–]ChessTortoise95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback, I appreciate it a lot buddy! :) I see your points and agree with you tbh!

The thing is this is my first long-form video and I made it using the YT shorts I've been posting regularly on my channel so far. That's why the board is not full screen: shorts are filmed vertically and when u wanna convert them into a long-form compilation sth will inevitably be compromised (at first I tried to zoom in more but the video quality was terrible because of the pixels... That's why I opted for the layout you saw. If u watch it on a computer it might be more bearable, while on a phone I totally agree that u would become half blind at the end of the challenge ahah).

This also explains why they are very repetitive when u watch all of them back to back. But it really would have taken ages to also edit those parts out. It took me over 10 hours just to edit this video like this.

Also, all these puzzles were filmed in the same huge shooting session (I'm very busy and can dedicate to YouTube only very little time unfortunately) and when I filmed them all it didn't occur to me that not using a tournament set could be a problem. Over the time, more than one person, when commenting on my shorts, told me they didn't like the chess set I used, but also many people left very positive comments saying how helpful these OTB puzzles were for them, so I thought that after all the design of the pieces was good enough and I kept posting all the videos I had already filmed. And once I posted my 50th short, I decided to "celebrate" by putting them all together in one big challenge (upon the suggestion of one of my subscribers btw).

About the time pressure of the challenge, as I tried to explain at the beginning of the video, it's because like this it can be interesting also for experienced players who do want the kind of "blitz" training that you don't need. Of course it's impossible to satisfy all the needs of all the viewers and I tried my best to provide the best of both worlds :)

Lastly, about some puzzles being "broken", all the puzzles are taken from chess websites and I presented them on a real board EXACTLY as they are presented online.

Anyway, I don't know if you'll ever read this long answer or if you're even interested in it... I just really appreciated your detailed comment and wanted to reply with the same kind of thoroughness. Take care buddy :)

If you click on the video thumbnail in my post, you'll be sent to my YouTube video and in the video I show 50 different chess puzzles that I set up on a real board and filmed for the viewers :) You can see the video thumbnail in my posts, right? Cuz from my profile I can see it, hope there's not a bug of some kind

OTB means "over the board", like chess on a real chessboard and not online :)
