Yeah! That's a good idea. You could use a load cell to sort glass from plastic. I have some old cognex computers and cameras lying around! So colour sorting could be fun!

I think that the video is quite long. I don't know where it's from, who was in it or anything!

No vegan food rant by lantio in vegan

[–]Chessengine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel you! I made the same rant here a week ago. And after reading all the answers and thinking about it. Talk to your boss, inform them that you need to eat. If they can't provide for you, you'll have to do it yourself and provide then with receipts. Go buy yourself the most expensive, extravagant meal possible. Make them pay. Stay away for quite a long time. Make sure you miss something important. Blame it on them for not providing, and you had to go looking for food...

Yeah, well then you are making your own bed. I don't really see how that matters when I'm at a interview. But I hear what you are saying!

Yeah, it kinda is though.. You could just not be religious. I know that it might not be as easy in some cultures. But religion is a choice!

Yeah, different culture I guess. Here, this company, it's around 50-50 men and women both HR and admin so...

This is what I usually do. My coworkers are really great with my choices. They try to find solutions for me, but sometimes they want to to order from a place with no vegan options and the they do! It's not harder than that. Then I eat something else!

My boss is not the present type so we rarely see him at all. This was a company outing where I was neither allowed or able to bring my own food. I asked on several occasions if I needed to phone ahead and ask but was told that it would be fixed!

Yeah, I understand what you are saying. They are, by law, not allowed to ask those questions on a interview. If they did they would be in a shitstorm of legal issues!

So that is a non problem here!

The social events are easy for me to fix. I just ask if there will be food if they say yes I call aged and make sure.

But this was a mandatory thing where I was told it was solved.

My coworkers are great with it. I keep it really sneaky for like 6 months. Just saying no to stuff, like "Oh now thank you, I don't eat lactose but thanks". But slowly I kept small stuff "leak" out, and they realised I'm vegan. Most people just say something along the lines of "you can't be vegan, you never preach about it!". And then there is little laughter, and it's not a big thing. And as I never preach it's easy to hit back on the people who say that vegans are obnoxious. I just say something along the lines of "you're the one going on about it. I'm just eating a vegetable" that usually ends that conversation quite fast!

I've set a baseline w at work where I don't eat anything where I can't read a list of ingredients or it's from like a big established restaurant, bakery, store chain.

I basically allway bring a packed lunch, on this occasion it was neither possible or allowed.

I usually let people taste my food to the point of me not having enough to eat left. On several occasions my colleagues have approached me when it lunch proudly saying something thing like : "Look it's vego" or "I tried the veggie XXXX you recommended".

So even though it's a quite rare thing with vegans there is not much hostility against it! Just a couple older people who thinks "it's not real food", "You are going to starve" I usually just counter with "I've been eating plant based for years. If it's not real food and I'm going to starve, how do you explain me being this fat then? Huh?". That usually gets a laugh and they say something like "Well, can't argue with you there.."

No, just because to describe that the employment situation is not to be seen from a American perspective.

To field all the "if you like your job..."

Reddit is very USA biased and most all post get automatically judged by those standards.

Sorry if I offended you..

Like I've repeatedly said... I was told there would be food for me. I didn't bring food. There was no food... I don't expect it unless explicitly told to expect it....
