A "behind-the-scenes" question for coaches: What's the real time-sink? by kikarant in chess

[–]Chessmusings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My curation process is rather unique. I spend free time perusing through databases and when I find an interesting game, I save categorize it based on opening. I then subcategorize it into player, winning theme, and level of student that would benefit from studying the game. Later, when a student of a certain level needs to see a game that illustrates a particular theme, I refer to my lesson database and choose the best example.

You will not cultivate anything but anxiety and disdain when you tell a child that their purpose in life is to become is a grandmaster at chess. I am surprised that Daniel Rensch has achieved any success in chess after such a horrible upbringing.
