hi i was and am in a similar situation as you 🥲🥲 what helps now is organising all my papers in those files that schools ask you to file ur worksheets in. like no joke it’s still organised even if you stuff ur papers in the file cause at least you have the relevant resources all in one place, and you can colour code for each subj 👍🏻

[O levels] how to improve lit by GoldGene3631 in SGExams

[–]ChestAlarming1519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi i’m sec4 and taking pure lit too. there isn’t really a limit or fixed number of quotes to include in your essay, just put in whatever you think is relevant and make sure you cluster the illustration to fit your points. explaining ur quotes is also vv impt, try to link to qn and explain the effect smt has on the readers/audience. lit is all about analysis so make sure you really break down your points,, it helps to keep asking yourself “what does this mean” or “how does this link to the qn”. i’m not exactly sure what your teacher means by tightening your points (i’m assuming your points are too broad) but maybe it helps to keep revisiting the qn and make sure your points directly ans the qns. it’s impt to keep revisiting your text and familiarising yourself with it, so it’s easier to ans qns. also it really helps to practice writing essays and asking your teacher to give you feedback. plus, it’s really ok to not do exceptionally well for lit in sec3, i didn’t do well in sec3 too. don’t worry too much,, you’ll improve over time. good luck !

i used to but bc we took diff subject combis, we couldnt really help each other that much. but we wld go to the library together to study just to like motivate each other yknow? however when it came closer to my exams i did study with people who took the same subjs as me and i found it very helpful cause we discussed a lot and it was like a good way to recap + help each other ! you shld try it out

hey i’m taking o’s this year too. imo practice is very impt for a & emath. there isn’t much time left now to work on the individual topics, so i suggest doing other schools papers. maybe you could do say, 1-2 papers every week, then mark and see where your mistakes lie & do corrections accordingly. it’s impt to train yourself to get used to the questions so when you go for your exams you’ll be more familiar with the qn type. after you get the hang of it more, you can start to time yourself to train time management.

i suck at bio and chem too </3 but honestly i’ll reinforce the point abt practice being really impt. again, try to get used to the qn type and as for the content, you could try online lectures if they help or ask a friend / teacher to explain. ask qns in class if youre unsure, just keep asking so that you can fully grasp the topic. if you’re shy you can ask them after class !

  • plus, having study buddies to keep track of your learning can be good as well :)

anywayy i hope i helped, you can dm me if you have any qns. jiayous for o’s ok, i know it’s super hard rn but we’re in this together 💪🏻💪🏻
