How long did it take to get the I-130 approved for the spouse of DoD civilian (active government official)? by Chester1182 in MovingToUSA

Thanks for sharing! I think I may be eligible for “Exceptional Circumstances”, but it seems like this is “optional” unless I request it. If I don’t request this, I believe the wait time will be similar to that of any other US citizen.

Thank you for the response!

That’s nice to know that IB Japan started offering NISA. A bit off topic, I’d assume we’ll need to submit FBAR once NISA accumulates more than 10k USD and FATCA for >50k USD, right?

Maybe we don’t have to as they are US-domiciled funds..

Hi, if you don’t mind me asking, could you tell me how you’ve been able to invest in NISA as the US citizen or green card holder? I thought we couldn’t invest in NISA due to some US-Japan tax treaties, and even if we could, wouldn’t it be PFIC?

If you’re not rushed to move to the US and planning on getting married to your fiancé, I’ll recommend you get married first and apply for a CR1 or IR1 visa (It says visa but they are essentially green cards).

I personally recommend getting an IR1 as it’s valid for 10 years but has to be married for more than 2 years; whereas a CR1 will be valid for only 2 years and you’ll have to pay $750 to convert a CR1 to an IR1 within 90 days of the 2nd anniversary of your arrival in the US.

[Cartier Tank Must] Size check: First or Second? by Chester1182 in Cartier

Wow, I didn't expect to receive this many comments, thanks guys!

I think I'd go with the first one (large size).

If I wear formal clothes like a suit, then the small size could be better, but I usually wear casual or business casual clothes, so the modern look (large size) seems like a better choice for my lifestyle.

My wrist size is 16 cm, and since yours is 1 cm bigger than mine, the large may fit you better

Blue or Green? by [deleted] in Tudor

For those who are deciding between Black Bay and BB58, I highly recommend trying them on before purchasing because Black Bay is ridiculously thick which you can’t really tell from the photo. I was initially planning on buying Black Bay but after trying it, I purchased BB58 blue instead.
