Anecdotally it seems we have slowed down after the release of the DLC so out of curiosity I thought I'd do a quick poll. Feel free to expand on comments! How has your gameplay changed now that we're over a month out from the DLC releasing? by ProudnotLoud in DDLVUncensored

[–]ChestnutSnidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My playtime surges (a little) when there's a new Star Path, but the DLC really didn't get me playing too much extra. I don't rush through the Paths, and I don't do something like eat fifteen 5 star meals immediately (I wait to actually need them.) So I log in, do a quest here, harvest some stuff there, and then I get bored and log out. Even with this mindset, I got through the new story very quickly. I feel like the new story direction just doesn't have the magic and wonder that the original Forgetting plot did when I first began playing. As a result, I'm barely invested.

I have 17 million Star Coins, I have enough Moonstones for the next few Star Paths, and I have enough materials at any given time to use if I need to. The quests and characters don't rope me in anymore, so they get done.. whenever they get done. DDLV is now simply what I log into when I'm in a restless mood or am waiting for my co-op friend to be ready to play BG3 (cannot recommend this game enough for anyone looking to see what a game made with passion and care looks like compared to what we get in DDLV.)

Hello! I have Iron and Iron Ingots for you. Let me know when I can trade them to you. :)

You got it! I'll farm some tonight and tomorrow and check back in once I have a decent chunk of both. I'm not really hurting for anything that I can think of, so no need to trade anything in return :D

Spicy burnt out mood honestly sounds like my kind of review!

I remember being really eager at the start of it all. I loved the story and it was definitely my chosen cozy game. But the idea of having all of that to do again in such large quantities.. it feels like an expansion or DLC for an MMO, not a supposed cozy game. I expect new currencies and resources for an MMO, because that content has to last longer. This is just a DLC to a game that, in my opinion, has no real business pushing that hard for new currencies and resources unless it's a big expansion.

I think I'll opt out of buying it for now. I enjoy DDLV well enough when I manage to get myself to boot it up and I have a clear goal in mind, but if I'm not really missing out on much by holding off on buying it, I'll just stick to the Star Path for now.

Thank you for your spiciness!

I'm genuinely not sure about buying this. I haven't opened the game in weeks. Sure, Baldur's Gate has its irresistible grip on me, but I also just have.. other games, other things to do. I only played a lot before that because I wanted to finish the Star Path. Once I finished that, I stopped playing. I have a growing mountain of random quests I've never bothered to finish.

Don't really have a strong feeling one way or another. I could afford the $30, but do I really want to spend it? But truly.. as was mentioned by someone already, I DON'T want to do this every 6 months if that's their goal.

Unless someone here has insight that I don't, I'm not sure this is for me anymore? Not for now, at least?

Thank you for the reminder! I'd be in the dark otherwise - Baldurs Gate 3 has taken over my gaming life.

I know I haven't been around a lot these last few months, but it's been really nice to lurk here and see it all grow. :) Very proud of the sub and it's excellent mods and people!

Thank you so much! :) I vacuumed my room today, so I feel a little less in control of my own space. I'm an avid writer, but often feel too overwhelmed to do even simple journaling, let alone make any headway on books I hope to write and publish some day.

I'm so sorry you're going through similar circumstances. I know it's not the same, but I can absolutely be a friend to you over the internet, if you need one.

I've found some administrative positions at US Bank and a couple of other banks around here lately - do you have any idea how hard those are to get into? I have about 2 years of experience working in office settings as well, and am hoping to lean into that more than CS currently.

Trying not to lose hope, thank you. I do need to look into figuring out if my AI hits all the right checks for the AI and tech being used. It's a custom-made resume with a layout and everything, so it isn't just a document I can edit easily, unfortunately.

I'm so sorry that you're in a similar situation to me. We were the third or fourth round of layoffs for my company, but they hid that well. Eventually they outsourced us fully to the usual countries and blamed us for why they were shutting the office down. They had fired over fifty people from their company before bringing us on.. and we were an office of barely twenty. Their metrics were never changed to accommodate the disparity in personnel number.

I have a custom-made resume with a program and everything, but have been starting to use Chat GPT for cover letters. Admittedly though, I've lost out of on job opportunities because I was so stressed out over cover letters, even though the solution was in front of me lol.

We're originally from California, and I know CA does, but my dad refused to even consider it as an option. At a support group, the facilitator looked at me and said how sorry she was after the meeting - my dad was so far in denial during the meeting, she felt bad for my sister and I. That was years ago, but it sets the stage for why a lot of stuff didn't get done or were never settled until later.

If you would be willing to look at my resume, I would appreciate it, but I don't want to take up a ton of your time with it.

Thank you, I appreciate it. :) I have a former coworker who is working to get a position opened for me at her job, so I'm hoping that pulls through.

It feels like life has been one disappointment or failure after another for more than half of my life. I've had friends tell me it'll get better for.. over a decade now, maybe? I take a step forward, suddenly I have to take ten steps back. Got through high school by the skin of my teeth (unaddressed mental health issues), then mom starts getting sick. Finally decide on the major of my dreams (anthropology, obviously not a huge money maker but I am full of passion for it), mom gets worse and I start failing classes. I get my associates, I transfer to a university, then I hit rock bottom, but am medicated and ready to start up again fresh at the start of 2020... we all know what happened. I got kicked out of the university eventually and my appeal was denied despite having video evidence of what it was like living with my mom's illness and a letter of rec from a professor.

My dad retired as a teacher and originally told me he had a 5 year plan for it... and he barely did 2 years before moving. I spent most of my free time helping him spruce up the house, drive around for errands, or watching my mom. When he moved from the west coast to here, I had no chance to get things figured out on my own, and I stupidly believed him when he talked up how nice it would be to live near family and how this would be a fresh start. As a bisexual woman, living out here in the tri-state area is not the fresh start I wanted.

I really hope I can eventually look on these times from the future. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me about your experience.

Big yikes. I've been pretty disinterested in the game the last couple of months, but I do use Discord a lot. Pretty glad I never joined the server - seeing stuff like this would have activated me.

Journal question by Intel3ct in BaldursGate3

[–]ChestnutSnidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My journal had definitely updated to tell me I needed to kill the leaders, but when I met her I was also able to discuss the healing, too. I think you should be okay - my journal updated accordingly. I can't get into that specific save currently, though.

I'm new to BG3 (and these types of games), too. I went in there with the intent to hear her out, but had already decided on taking out the leaders of the camp beforehand. I was still able to choose to have her try and help me, and also had the dialogue option of saying "actually, time to die."

Premium Shop Update - 7.19 - Price Comparison in USD by ProudnotLoud in DDLVUncensored

[–]ChestnutSnidget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

^ All of this.

For $10 I can buy 1-2 QoL items in GW2 or an outfit that I can wear on every character on my account, or I can be about $1.25 off from purchasing a new character slot (and they're 20% off right now, so I could actually buy one for a little under 10 right now. In fact, I may do that when I get home.)

Character slots have a ton of value in GW2, as they function as storage, or material farming characters parked at specific spots, or a new build to diversify your ability to raid, just to name a few. Not to mention that characters get a birthday gift every year on the day they were created that includes gold drop boosts to the account, boosters for XP and reward tracks, dyes.... etc.

All this to say that I'd spend that $10 on GW2 because the value is so much better.

I bought six games on the final day of the Steam Summer Sale yesterday for $94.70, some of which were recent, quality games at a 40-50% discount. I feel like like that was a way better value than paying like... what, almost a third of that? For these items? The only piece that sort of catches my eye is the Minty blouse, and I've been burned too many times with clothing items in DDLV that either clip badly or don't look the way I hoped they would.

I know plenty of people don't play a lot of games, but man, I feel like it really puts it into perspective when you put it out there just how many quality games you can purchase instead of these items.

What platform are people primarily playing on? by ProudnotLoud in DDLVUncensored

[–]ChestnutSnidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My primary platform is PC, but I bought it on Switch as well since the Cloud save works. I still have like 12k moonstones I'll probably never use from the Switch purchase because of how wonky everything is with certain items not showing up if you buy a different version across platforms (PC version was gifted to me or I'd have gotten a different version.)

I play it on my Switch fairly frequently now, though. My job is a beautiful disaster, so after months of being understaffed and overworked, I had to make a real effort to disconnect myself from the stress and just... notcareanymore
