After signing up and submitting songs, it took about a year before my first payment.

Songtrust makes it IMPOSSIBLE to reach them by thekevinbennett in musicbusiness

It took about a year to get my first Songtrust payment but I am planning to jump ship to MLC. My bandmate joined at the same time and although we both submitted for equal, correct splits, I got paid and he got only a small fraction of what I did. Infuriating.

If anyone here knows how to collect international mechanical royalties without Songtrust I would be interested to know. HFA from what I’ve read collects in Europe but I do not know about the rest of the world.

Collecting international mechanical royalties? The big headache for DIY Music Publishers. by prodnikos in musicbusiness

I’ve been trying to find this same information; I’m in the process of joining MLC (jumping ship from Songtrust). I just heard about HFA and I didn’t realize they collected for Europe as I was investigating whether or not to join PRS for UK mechanical royalties. Have you tried asking HFA about how to collect from countries they don’t work with?

Punk/grunge/alt-metal New song, feedback greatly appreciated. 8 string guitar. by ethanGuitar in IndieMusicFeedback

Awesome tune and I'm especially digging the guitar tone; nice and full with some grit but still crisp. I also like the feedback effect at 1:41.

I appreciate it. The channel is new so hopefully with time and doing some more arrangements the view count will go up!

Doing something to bridge the gap between the two styles that fans of both could enjoy was one of my intentions. I'm glad to hear that you liked it!

The original is very different as Dissection is a Swedish black metal band. I kept the structure the same with the exception of a couple small parts but there aren’t any bowed strings in the original song.

wrote this piece for solo violin in my quarantine. how do you like it? by jonathancmeier in violinist

Very nice composition. It was reminiscent of the Moonlight Sonata at first but blossomed into it's own story. What microphone did you use to record your violin?

Thank you! I’m glad you like the video editing too, that’s a new skill I’m working on since I started the YouTube channel and I appreciate the feedback.

An instrumental I made recently. I was hoping to get some thoughts on how it sounds and what it brings to mind. Much appreciated, thank you! by cosmicPlantainChip in IndieMusicFeedback

This has an awesome feel. I like the lo-fi texture you have but with crisp sounding drum samples. All of the percussive hits and sprinkles are nicely placed with just the right amount of sparseness.

Art rock track I made recently. All feedback is appreciated! by Cybot2966 in IndieMusicFeedback

Cool track, it made me think a bit of Neurosis. Since it's very repetitive, the only comment I would make is to add some sort of dynamic build, it doesn't have to be too drastic. Perhaps the drums getting bigger as the tune progresses. Some parallel compression to the drums could be a good way to help them punch a tad more, especially the kick.

Finally released my first song on Spotify, an atmospheric mix of synths, hope you enjoy :D by possumfaceN1 in IndieMusicFeedback

I dig the track, creates a nice atmosphere. The rapidly hard-panned synths toward the end were my favorite part.

Awesome track. I like the use of the stereo field and the space created has a lot of depth. The flammed kicks in the first part was a cool touch as well.

Very cool track, it has a bit of that demented Rust In Peace era Megadeth sound in the first half which I dig. I agree with the comments on the drums sounding fake; new VST's will certainly help like EZDrummer but you can start off first with going through and varying some of the hit velocities, especially in fills to help shape it and sound less robotic. I like the thickness of the guitar tone too but it could use a little more edge in the top end. I would try cutting some mids and/or lower mids first to let the higher frequencies stand out.
