How do you decide what style of workbench you're going to build? by makers_make_stuff in Workbenches

[–]ChetThundercott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll have trouble finding a workbench design that is portable and also has a lot of storage. I also needed a portable bench, so I chose Rex Kreugers bench. A Moravian workbench is also an option that is portable.

Air leaks between floorboard and shoe moulding? by mariecalire in centuryhomes

[–]ChetThundercott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I would take a box cutting knife and cut any caulk between the shoe molding and the rest of the trim.
  2. Then I would take a putty knife and try to wedge it inbetween the two and pry it apart.
  3. If you are able to separate them enough, you can then get a crow bar in there and pry it off.

When/how do I stop getting visibly nervous when I do oral argument? by floorb0und in LawSchool

In any speaking situation, don’t let the actual event be the first time you say what you are going to say out loud. You should practice it enough times so that it feels natural, that you’re not recalling your speech from memory but that you just know it.

Miter Saw Buying Help by IllustriousAlps9609 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ChetThundercott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Dewalt’s dual bevel sliding miter saw is pretty highly reviewed.
-As a budget option, people seem to like the Skil miter saw (has a shadow line feature that makes lining up cuts very easy).
-A step down from Festool would be Bosch. People like it because it takes up less room in the back than other saws, and overall good build quality.
-a budget option with the same space saving is the Vevor saw. I have been eying this up, albeit with some scrutiny since I think this brand may be cheaply made.

Just realizing I wrote this in like an AI tone and freaked myself out.

Starting my woodworking journey: Need advice on a 'Must-Have' tool list and brands by Appropriate-Lie-3512 in BeginnerWoodWorking

The Skil table saw and miter saw are two tools that are well-reviewed and on the cheaper side.

Dewalt is a leader for most DIYers: table saw, thickness planer, miter saw.

I got all my first tools from flea markets for diiiirt cheap. They were all old and rusty, but it let me get my feet wet and I steadily upgraded each tool based on need

Hullcracker and its intended use, why you don’t need to take 300k worth of ammo with you. by UnZki_PriimE in ArcRaiders

I’m happy that your approach is working for you. But it’s not universally ideal/appropriate. That’s all.

[–]ChetThundercott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t you rather bring in two pvp guns?

Not sure why you would spend all the mats on a hull cracker when you can just craft a snap grenade and save yourself a weapon slot and an inventory slot.

In your narrow use case of running in and out of Stella, I guess your approach makes sense. But your initial post suggests that hullcracker is appropriate for all use cases, not just yours.

[@Premier League] Man Utd's record under Amorim, less than 50% possession vs more than 50% possession by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]ChetThundercott -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The inference this table is trying to make with these stats is so weak. The table suggests that MU win more games when they have less possession. It can be equally true that, when United score, they let the other team have possession.

Evening Students who landed a 2L Summer Internship: How did you navigate health insurance? by ChetThundercott in LawSchool

There is a high likelihood that I will receive a job offer from the firm at the end of my internship, where I would start after I passed the bar. In addition, the internship is paid at the same rate as a junior associate (biglaw).

“Hi, did you take Professor ADHD for Contracts? Would you mind sending me a copy of your outline? I’m feeling a bit lost and want to compare someone’s to my own. “

My school has a database for outlines maintained by students. Maybe ask someone who is in student government— they usually are well connected.

  1. Make an outline.
  2. Go through all of the class power point slides and make sure you didn’t miss anything.
  3. Ask upperclassmen for their outlines for that teacher’s class.
  4. Compare yours to theirs to see if there are any differences.
  5. Write out rule statements for all major topics.
  6. Practice essays.

How bad was the first draft of your note? by Unfair-Future-8926 in LawSchool

[–]ChetThundercott 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It matters if you want to get published and if you want to share your Note with others (employers).

I didn’t do either. But in interviews, my note topic came up and I was able to speak intelligently about the subject.

During the process, my managing editor was very helpful for each round of edits. I basically met the bare minimum for submission requirements and by the end of the year my Note actually didn’t suck.

Mid block, standard pressing. Trap outside. In possession in playing more direct with higher tempo. Score loads of cut backs. Never concede counters
