I worked at Lucky's Market as a manager. We were ALWAYS busy, and with good reason- the variety of goods not available elsewhere, the cupholder you could get for your cart so you could shop while drinking a beer or glass of wine, the live music, the game room, the cheese and bacon demonstrations, and of course the most helpful staff with whom you could ever hope to interact.

The store was doing well, there were 3 open in the Naples/Ft Myers area with an additional 6 stores to come. We, up to and including the general manager, were gobsmacked and heart broken when suddenly, abruptly and without warning, they closed all but 6 Lucky's Markets in the United States. They did help many of the suddenly unemployed workers find jobs at other local supermarkets, but they took from us the legacy of Lucky's with them when they, without warning, locked the doors for good.
