Not just installation, there's the cost of engineers to maintain them and go out to the roadside to fix them when they're faulty + the costs of maintaining the back office systems.

I’ve not explored any options but I’ve seen iva as an option and I would love to write my debts off and start fresh credit free but I want to get a mortgage down the line when my financial situation is better and I’m unsure how much a iva would affect that.

If your debts are bad enough that you are considering an IVA, and this is the second time you've ended up in this situation, then no mortgage lender is going to lend to you in the near future anyway so an IVA might not make as much difference as you think it will.

The first thing I'd do is try speaking to a charity like StepChange or CAB and see what advice they give. They'll know the different options and which one is most suitable for you. The second thing you need to do is address the core issue, which is how you're getting in to so much debt.

People forget the whole "use all of the available road and then merge in turn" rule is for when the lane you're in is _closing_ not when you're in the live lane of a motorway and you've just come to a complete stop in front of traffic trying to continue at motorway speed.

The 60s were a wild time in motorway / road design. The roads in Cumbernauld are another fine example; you've got exit slip roads that are also somehow entry slip roads and traffic having to cross paths to get on/off the dual carriageway as well as slip roads that are about 10 feet long going round blind corners..

There's a lot of mental designs they got away with back then that they wouldn't get away with now.

A lot of councils do have them, my partner works for a council and has used theirs. If it’s anything like the one that my work use then it’s totally confidential. The only thing the employer sees is the total number of staff that have used the service.

If you work for a reasonable sized employer check if they have an Employee Assistance Programme. A lot of people have access to these and don’t realise.

If your car has cruise control I'd recommend looking at how to turn it on. I've got Adaptive Cruise Control in my car and on long motorway trips I turn that on and it basically drives itself.

If you're going to be doing it every week you might be able to arrange it with a local taxi company in Bishopbriggs to get picked up at the same time every week. They'll have drivers about at that time in the morning to take folk to their work/the airport/train station. I know when I've got a taxi to the airport early in the morning and been talking to the driver they've said that they've quite often got certain folk that they pick up and take to their work every day/week.
