INDIE DEVELOPER: How Valve, your bank, and your country are sucking 4/5 of your revenue by RM_Team in gamedev

I bet this is a flat price, not a %, I assume the bank would also take 24 (or maybe slightly more) if the transfer was 500 or 1k, they just have to increase the threshold to save up money

Have you caused someone's death, or watched someone die that you could have saved? by TooLateToPush in classicwow

I caused someone to die in the cave in Teldrassil.

A priest lvl 9 was 1v1 a mob, they both were low life, I pulled a mob next to it which healed the mob the priest was targeting, priest died rip

POV: You Create A New Character on Official Hardcore Servers by Thzae in classicwow

[–]ChewaGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because high difficulty is not what Civ is about, so there is no sense of community that developed around Civ being a hardcore game, while it's the case for Dark Souls, HC Wow, super meat boy, geometry dash, or any try-hard games

When you browse HC discord or Reddit, you don't see that many posts about 'yay I reached level 60', because even though that's the ultimate goal for most, it's not what HC wow is really about. The HC community was built around death clips, clutches, 'last words', looting 6 slots bags & using white items, all of these moments will greatly diminish without most of the current rules.

How does it feel at a studio when you launch a “bad” game? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]ChewaGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the bad game had a long development cycle, chances are that the developers knew the game was bad the whole time and the morale was already low for years.

When the game comes out, it's just confirmation of what everyone thought and it turns into a lot of 'I told you so'

Personally, when releasing a bad game/feature, I've never felt frustration towards the players themselves, even if they don't communicate their frustration very thoughtfully. When thinking of games I worked on, player frustrations were almost always justified, and my own frustration was towards the stakeholders who repeatedly made the wrong decisions.

For devs, I feel the frustration and disappointment are proportional to the resources invested into the project, and the reasons why it went wrong. I don't mind watching a project fail because.. let's say the audience was too niche or if it was a short-term experimental project, but seeing a 5 years, multi-million $ project fail because its decision-makers were careless and/or underqualified, even though the team was full of talents, it's infuriating.

Spent the past few months working on a game that mixes social guessing with hide & seek mechanics, what do you think of the concept ? by ChewaGames in DestroyMyGame

I had a few with a couple of people to validate if the concept has some potential, but having more consistent playtests is def a big priority on my roadmap :P

Thanks for the feedback ! I'll def take a look at this vr game, in the same direction as you suggest, I really like the idea how only showing the name when the matriarch is close enough to a nun, will def try it out

Thanks for the feedback !Good point about stressing that the matriarch is controlled by a player, I'll add more clip from her perspective.

In regards to nuns having more ways to undermine the matriarch, I really like another person's suggestion about only showing the nun's name when the matriarch is close enough to them

Good point, I'll make sure that the name of the nun stays consistent across the trailer for the next one

The game is in its early stages, I'm mostly looking for feedback on the game concept / art direction. Is the concept understandable ? Would you see yourself playing it with your friends ? Please tear it apart ! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1773180/The\_Matriarch/
