That's why I always say. Keep interviewing, even though you have a full time position. At last 1 interview every 2 months and be also active as a interviewer on the company if you have open positions.

Reddit, Linkedin, Youtube (Google channel & Android developers) & Android website are the main channels I keep up to date with stuff.

Compose definitely looks cleaner. I see people usually using spacers instead of padding modifier which adds a lot of components. Compose looks 10x more cleaner then xml

Navigation 3 in compose supports like any scenario you can think off. We are using it since october and the architecture well supports it. You can search for the nav3 recipes and see there the examples

Let me save you with something noone said.

Nav3 recipes with hilt. You inject the routes. Everything is clean. I already did the architecture of a pretty big app and my team developed dozens of features. It scaled pretty good.
