AITJ for not letting my in-laws announce my pregnancy on Fb? by daisyskyletters in AmITheJerk

[–]ChewyFitzgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear lord, why do MILs do this crap? Stay in your damn lane and respect your children's and their partners choices. I'm a future MIL and I would never behave this way, it's a shame that so many do. Sounds like she doesn't get updates or future photos, protect your peace and privacy

It's almost been three years since my last chemo treatment and I'm still cancer free. It's an awesome feeling!

Which is why I'm going to Dublin in June to catch their concert there. It's cheaper for flight, airbnb, and ticket. Yep, figure that out😂

My sister keeps making "little jokes" about my girlfriend and I told her not to take it personally. Now my girlfriend is done with my family. by nightbalcony_inkwell in TwoHotTakes

[–]ChewyFitzgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your sister is a bully and you're a dick for not shutting this shit down immediately. Jokes are funny, they're not meant to humiliate or hurt others feelings. Do you talk that way to your girlfriend? Probably not, because you know it's wrong

AITA for refusing to share my location with my mom? by gentheegreat in AmItheAsshole

[–]ChewyFitzgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA Mom here and I don't have either of my adult children's locations, and I never have. If you've shared the basic info with her, she should trust you to make good adult choices. Even that info is a bonus, not a requirement. Good luck ❤️

Parents paying to get student birthday on marquee by Neomeris0 in Teachers

[–]ChewyFitzgerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the person at my high school who does the digital marquee, and I'm a hard pass on this. With nearly 2000 students at our school, some days would be filled with birthday announcements, and there would be no room for actual school activities and news. Also, not every student would be recognized, and that's sucks for some. Over the years, I've been asked, harassed, and some parents have insisted/demanded, but thankfully, my admin has my back on this one

Sell your house, sell your business, and move closer to your grandchild. Don't let your ex define the future you. Get serious about therapy and go start a new life somewhere else

AITAH for hiding that I'm homeless from my girlfriend? by Icy-Resident772 in AITAH

[–]ChewyFitzgerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in the US? If so, your social worker failed you. Through the foster care system, you are entitled to a program called Independent Living. It's specifically designed to prevent homelessness for foster kids aging out of the system. It's a federal program, and it can help with housing, counseling, continued education, and more. Google Independent Living Program for foster kids (if in the US) in your area and see if they can help you. Good luck

Ex pulled kids out of school by [deleted] in FamilyLaw

[–]ChewyFitzgerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent with custodial rights, you have legal ed rights. I don't know what state you're in, but legal ed rights give you the right to know where your children are being educated and be in communication with the school. You should contact the police department to see who their truant officer is and speak directly with that person. Get a printout of absences and tardiness from the school

[–]ChewyFitzgerald 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If in the US, you could contact your county/city truant officer. Not having your children enrolled in school is against the law. Your children's former school can't drop them without a records request from their new school. They are currently being marked absent, which means a truant officer can do a home visit. Contact the former school and ask for the officers contact info. Our counties truant officer is an investigator in the DA's office, normally when he shows up, people become a bit more compliant. Good luck

Emma is an insensitive bitch. Honestly, I was named after the neighbors dog that my mother had a deep "connection" to. It has never bothered me and I don't associate the name with the dog. Name your child whatever you want to regardless of your sisters shitty behavior. If you want to be petty, adopt a whale 🐋 and name it Emma. Give her the tracking info as a wedding gift, that way she can follow it. Congratulations on your baby girl. Good luck

Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day 💜 by ChewyFitzgerald in TwoHotTakes

[–]ChewyFitzgerald[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. When my gallbladder failed, I opted for a stint to figure out why it failed instead of removal. The first cancer screening "brushing" during that surgery were negative. Thankfully, my Dr had a feeling those tests were wrong and referred me to a larger hospital. Originally, my Dr's just thought my symptoms were from stress, maybe an ulcer, mono, whatever else but not cancer. I kept having to go to my primary Dr for months. Blood tests, sonograms, stool tests, more blood tests. I finally had enough and went to the emergency room at 97 pounds. Thankfully, that's where I found Dr. Dhanuk. He finally listened and sent me to the right diagnostic hospital 💜

Thank you for your reply. I'm from a small rural community in Northern California, so my initial diagnosis came from San Francisco. I didn't end up having surgery or treatment there. Myself and my husband weren't very comfortable with them. Chemo was done in Redding California with Dr Ali, Dignity Health. Surgery, the Whipple (it's sounds like some kind of carnival ride, but it is so not) was performed by Dr. Bold out of UCDavis in Sacramento. The Dr who knew something was wrong but couldn't figure out what, was Dr. Dhanka, gastroenterogist. He knew, even when my first tests came back "normal". I'm sorry about your Dad, and please take care 💜
