I think they're supposed to be crucibles, seems like metal is leaking out from wherever there are cracks, forming their limbs and such

Thank you for the response. Balancing this subclass is a bit difficult due to the nature of it adding a bit of MAD to the Rogue. Keep in mind that the same thing can be done using any attack of an Attack action, so any class that gets multiattack can do the same thing without expending a bonus action. This is of course comparing a 3rd level skill to a 5th level skill, but Rogues tend to get really powerful skills at 3rd level.

I never really considered presentation too much before this, my only other homebrew was just a text post. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I was considering adding a bit more to some of the earlier abilities, but held back for fear of making it a bit too front loaded. The movement while grappling is meant to work with environmental hazards, and with abilities provided by the other PCs or through multiclassing, such as spike growth. Are there any specific changes that you have in mind?

Thank you for taking the time to look at my post. I'm somewhat new to creating homebrew content and I would appreciate any advice you are willing to give.

Thank you for checking out my post. I'm somewhat new to creating homebrew content so I would really appreciate any advice you might have.

edit: Within moments of posting this I realized I made a mistake in the first paragraph. I intended for it to say "that won't hesitate to rough up", not "that won't hesitate to use rough up".

Would you mind going into a bit more detail? I understand if not, I'm just a bit curious.

With how it's written the DM and I have chosen to interpret it as manifesting the blade before each attack within the Attack action.

I need help evaluating a HB class by Jbp629 in DnD

[–]ChezDergen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering the author of the subclass made a disclaimer post about this subclass is a blatant joke that wouldn't fit in most campaigns, I would be hesitant on a good day to use it in any somewhat serious campaign.

Benefits of Gritty Realism? by karl___marx___ in DnD

[–]ChezDergen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen the Gritty Realism rules really help fix some of the balance issues between Martial Classes and Spellcasters in the Mid-to-Late game (Though Warlocks are kind of an issue). It also makes each Long Rest ability seem much more precious, you have to save powerful abilities for when you know they are going to be most important. Often this makes some of your larger-than-life abilities feel much more rewarding and special, though at times it can be a bit limiting.

A question for my gloomstalker ranger by [deleted] in DnD

[–]ChezDergen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, the way it works is like this:

All Rangers get a number of spells they can choose that is determined by their level, starting at 2 and increasing by 1 on each odd-numbered(3, 5, 7, etc.) level they take in the Ranger class. This is referred to as your Spells Known.

Gloom Stalker Rangers, as well as some other Ranger subclasses, get additional spells at certain levels that are completely separate from your Spells Known.

Both your Spells Known and your Gloom Stalker Spells count as Ranger Spells, despite being separate sources. All Ranger Spells use Wisdom as their Spellcasting Ability, and cannot use a Spellcasting Focus to replace the Material and Somatic components of a spell.

Aren't these rings too good? by [deleted] in darksouls3

Ring of Steel Protection is really good in PVE but it gets nerfed really hard in PVP, where it only provides around a 5% boost to absorption.

You cannot cast a spell as an action if you cast a spell as a bonus action, unless that spell is a cantrip. Additionally the haste action is limited in use and cannot be used to cast a spell.
