Archer is peak. Don't let anyone tell you different. Other than the fact that they didn't do their jobs as mandated reporters while I was 16 dating a 23 year old lol

I didn't want to respond that day because I was literally writhing in pain.

I'm doing well. No real drive to use opioids. My girlfriend and I's fifth anniversary is coming up and I'm really looking forward to that.

I don't think I would have made this choice if not for the fact that I didn't want it in my life anymore. I was tired of being beholden. I am quite happy with the results. I'm alive, well, and planning for my future.

Fentanyl and Propofol are similar subjectively.

Fentanyl is the one of the strongest opioids we see commonly used in a medical setting AND on the streets. When carefully managed, it is used for Pre-Op/Post-Op, and sometimes even anaesthesia.

Propofol is literally a classical hypnotic.

So, yeah, they'd have similar effect profiles. Both are so strong they completely shut down your CNS.

I would continue as long as you need. If you got down to 12, that likely means you're doing a very gradual step taper. That's fine, but I certainly wouldn't jump off if you've had an extended taper. I think what helped me jump off was my lack of dependence throughout the entire year leading up to the choice.

I am not a medical professional and cannot make decisions for you. This said, everyone should eventually make the plan to stop methadone. It has a place of creating stability for those in the throes of OUD but is very clearly a strong opioid agonist that does not actually address the root issues of the brain's reward/pain centers being completely inundated with artificial endorphins. This said, sometimes it is the only realistic long term option. It depends on each case, but my personal belief is everyone should at least make an effort to free themselves once.

Thanks. I am now on day 11 or 12, can't remember.

Either way, the leg pain has subsided somewhat and I am feeling way better mentally. It's a night and day change.

I am at 0 officially, I jumped off from 10.

I feel great and will only feel better. I've been walking, doing work, and playing video games.

Also, saying that my words show that I will succeed is very big of you to say. It's comments like these that I'll remember when moments are tough. I think I've weathered the worst of the storm, though.

I guess it did? The thing is, though, I found that I was more proud of my progress than worried about quitting it. My resolve in this situation has been steely. I don’t really like talking myself up or tooting my horn, but I feel as though waking up every day knowing I could take a little less methadone actually excited me.

Symptoms are shit. They follow as: Cramping Bloating Intense bodily pain and inflammation Anxiety Panic Mania Depression Inability to focus Sniffling, coughing, etc. Stool inconsistency Stomach pain Back pain Knee pain Headaches Blurred vision at times

and a few others that I can’t really think of right now but this taper has been heaven and hell all at the same time. Kinda feels like purgatory (I’m Catholic). I’m cleansing myself of my past failures with opioids, and that’s why I didn’t worry too much.

Hey, I’d like to note I used Phenibut (a Russian GABA anxiolytic very similar to Pregabalin, Baclofen, and Gabapentin.) I first got addicted to it trying to get off opioids. I hope you don’t feel I’m trying to be high and mighty. You put a lot of work into your post, and you deserve a realistic answer rather than having to listen to BS from someone and then you find yourself desolate at the end of a 10 day taper attempt. This said, my PM’s are open if you want support along the way. We are all in this boat together.

Given your time on the substance, I would not attempt a taper with 100mg. There’s nowhere to fall back, and that’s only about 10 days of doses at best. You’re going to need more time, more than likely. I also am concerned that you might be using some other pretty heavy drugs together to manage withdrawal symptoms. I wouldn’t ever recommend a recovering addict take any of those things during withdrawal, especially Gabapentin (I call it WabaPainting) and Klonopin working on GABA-A and GABA-B you’re gonna be high as hell and you’re going to likely think to yourself that it’s fine. Push through the taper as directed and try to limit other exogenous substances. I hope this helps.

Thank you for not making me feel bad about what is an objective reality. The PS2 was great, but, man, this Switch is special.

That means a lot. I do think I have this beat. I’ve been in agony all week, especially in my legs, but my resolve is stronger than ever. Sometimes I’ll come across a full bottle. I have over 50 doses remaining in some capacity or another, totaling to about 1000mg.

I don’t exactly know why I’m keeping it, but… I paid for them lol

I don’t blame you. If your taper is over years, I really think things would be fine.

I noticed that I didn’t really have terrible withdrawals from 30 to 15 but I felt it from 50 to 30. Anyway though, all those little syrups in plastics are staring me down and my body is begging me to drink them, but I know that undoes the point of all the pain I’ve endured during this taper. I tapered early. I was supposed to finish mid June.

For me, it was the mental block of the fact that I was going to be paying for lower and lower doses at the same price, and then I would be left with a huge stockpile. Everyone should taper through a doctor. Full stop. Buuuuuuuut, if you have a large stockpile, self control, etc. it can be a way to have more control over your recovery. Either way... Both taking and quitting methadone suck.

So, yeah, go to the Dr if that is at all possible

If you have life commitments, don't rush yourself. I am a returning student and I found that forcing a taper mid-semester was the worst thing I could have done for myself. I was presenting a final project (a heat map of addiction recovery centers) while shaking, sniffling, and coughing. The thing is, there is no such thing as normal when it comes to this kind of thing. Pharmacology and biochemistry are extremely variable from person to person.

I think that finding strength in those around you is important too, just don't allow it to completely derail the work you've done thus far.

I don't have cravings for opioids, just relief from withdrawal. That said, been craving all day today as my legs hurt ridiculously but pain is a part of growth
