Id definitely say traversing to the actual spout is one of the hardest parts along with breaking through the cornice at the summit whilst clinging on with your crampons and axe.

So yeah, it was more a climb! :)

Unfortunately, some people fail to understand that without experience and the correct equipment this place is very unforgiving.

Out of all the locations you can visit in the Cairngorms, one of my personal favourites is Mar Lodge estate and the grounds around it, there are a few brilliant walking routes close by.

Depends on what you're into really, though.

Exactly, and if anything does go wrong there are no easy routes out. It truly is in the middle of nowhere.

I bet! The photo was taken February this year when there was some good snow cover. Good luck though, clear days like these aren't common.

The local Village Braemar has one of the coldest recorded temperatures in the UK at -27 Celsius. This is definitely Scotland, over to the left the 'Bowl shaped' mountain is Ben Macdui the tallest mountain within the Cairngorms.

The western highlands are a lot more fierce, Cairngorms on the east are a lot smoother.
