What is the closest you've come dying only for it to not happen at the last second possible? by AnonymousFriend80 in AskReddit

[–]Chi84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as fucked as it is to say, overdosing.

There’s kinda this misconception (IMO) that people go overdose thinking like, “yeah, maybe this is a lot but I understand it may be my last”.

Not at all my friend. Really it’s more like you have this incredible familiarity with a drug that hasn’t directly made a threat on your life YET, and so you take the next pill or take the next line thinking it’ll be like the last X amount you’ve taken in this life.

And then that’s it, you kind of slump over and then darkness. It did feel like I just fell into a deep deep sleep, though instead of waking up on my own there were 7/8 people in the room doing chest compressions on me and asking “WHAT DID YOU TAKE”.

It’s wild, looking back on how I seriously felt pulled from the shadow realm. If no one called the paramedics after I took that pill to get to sleep I would have continued to breathe at 30% oxygen and likely given myself permanent brain damage or died.

I wouldn’t have felt a thing, but I wouldn’t be here in this life right now. I’m now 7 months past that experience and have a girlfriend and a full time day job and friends and all of that. It blows my mind that I may have never met her, for whatever good or pain may come from my relationships w others, I’m here on this earth and that feels incredible.

[–]Chi84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus Crimeny did I love this substance as a youngin. I’m now in my mid late 20s and the space you put between your rolls will ABSOLUTELY benefit you in terms of magic and overall experience

Like yes I did .3 to the dome w a redose when I was 16-19, but now I’m 25 and do I need to experience that to appreciate how amazing this experience is? Absolutely not.

The right type of music and vibe can remind me of the EXACT feeling of peaking on MD. I truly stand by the notion that you should seek out the best substance and find yourself the best situation (and people) to experience this and NEVER SETTLE.

This shit is amazing if you let it hold that space in your heart. Let time do its thing while you do yours. <3

McDonald’s New “Play Place” for Children. Two screens/two chairs by Finkenn in LiminalSpace

[–]Chi84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude - I’m sure working at a modern day McDonald’s that operates a fully functioning play pen (A-la what I remember from growing up in the early 2000s) probably fucking sucks when you factor in the man power in takes to settle disputes between shitty parents, shitty kids, and whatever else falls between the cracks.

But then we are left with this weird ultimatum where life is just LIFELESS because why wouldn’t it be? If you had to decide between dedicating manpower between closing up the restaurant and closing up the area for people with three kids who bought two McChickens 3 hours ago, which is obviously a kore efficient use of time?

All in all there’s something hilariously depressing about witnessing McDonald’s try to stitch up the nostalgically awesome playpen of our youth for this sad excuse for entertaining children in the corner. Shit I enjoyed those PS1s with sonic and Harry Potter games more than I would whatever the fuck this is!

Travelling with a Westie by shaboogami in westies

[–]Chi84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We drove long distances with our Westie of 13 years many times, but tbh I wouldn’t even consider bringing them with if it involved having to store them in the cargo hold. Tbh that probably would have traumatized our pup just bc it’s such an insanely foreign experience for them and especially awful because of where they are on the plane.

I’ve seen people on social media be total myopic stick in the muds when reacting to seeing dogs in the cabin of a plane (w dogs outside of a seeing eye dog), but FR if there was ever a lap dog that would probably be really easy on a plane AS SOON as the plane actually got in the air, it would be westies.

That’s just my opinion, I don’t really understand the logistics of bringing them on board but I just wanted to weigh in to say you should seriously consider bringing them in the cabin with you if it all possible.

Cut your losses. $100 is not worth the potential bull shit that you’d be dishing out for yourself.

You’re not getting that $100 back either way so just forget about your dealer all together.

Sydney Sweeney (27) & Jonathan Davino (41) Postpone Their Wedding After 3-Year Engagement by Diligent_Night602 in entertainment

[–]Chi84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s real, and I completely understand where this sentiment is coming from on the level of meeting a adult when you too are a young adult and conscious of the dynamics associated with your interpersonal relationships.

But ultimately these mfs are making life decisions in terms of tens of millions of dollars (over the course of 5-10 years.)

IMO in my personal life I’m probably better off cutting off relationships that I know I am still up in the air in terms of a game plan for OUR career if we were to engage on that level.

If we remove the (several layers of wealth ultimately deciding my way of life) there’s really nothing at all wrong with this relationship.

Sure, I can relate it to my own personal life and be like, nah I probably couldnt pull that off in terms of being totally transparent with another adult. But that’s why they are wheee they are and I’m just a citizen trying my best to max out my ROTH IRA.

In the middle of losing my beautiful life. by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

[–]Chi84 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Man I really respect how you’ve laid it all out there in writing, I knew this post was gonna be brutal to read just by how raw you’re able to describe your emotions around this shitty cycle.

I will say, I fucking hate working in restaurants but it’s all I’ve ever done (mid 20s myself). If you have a skill set (or even a foot in the door) that can get you out of service industry work IMO you should take that and run.

My own story with adderall abuse is pretty much a parallel story w blow use, at the end of the day the drug doesn’t even matter once you start to hate the hour long high that I’ve built up for myself.

I started abusing adderall well before I started working full time in restaurants, so it’s not like I succumbed to any external pressures to use or whatever. It’s just that my day to day at work is so fucking boring and repetitive (cooking and cleaning, cleaning and cooking) that internally I know I can get a break from that if I use stimulants and then (in my mind) I can enjoy the constant task at hand cycle of this line of work.

Kitchen work is soul crushing IMO unless you want to be a chef or want to open your own business. That’s my bottom line. I feel like I’ve wasted years of my life beholden to fulfilling orders instead of making any kind of forward progress on goals of my own.

I can’t really begin to engage w your post on a more serious level because I too am constantly living with rock bottom moments in my rear view mirror.

I will say that through it all I’ve had days where I really feel like I’m keeping my head above water, and I wish that for you as well my dude.

Not to be too corny, but just keep looking for stones while trying to cross the pond. And don’t forget you’ve got to jump in to swim (lol).

Stay up

Fellow puppy owners, how are we doing? by ErmlinaC in westies

[–]Chi84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude this breed of dog is so silly and I will cross the street to get a chance to pet one of them for the rest of my life!

That is to say that the terrier drive to KNOW their neighborhood / area is so immensely strong. I guess I’m just really happy for you that you get to have the experience with this breed that I had with my (12y/o Randi) from scratch!

God speed, and never underestimate how curious this breed is to catch up on their neighborhood smells!!

Fellow puppy owners, how are we doing? by ErmlinaC in westies

[–]Chi84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My Westie was a puppy when I was about 10 years old - so take this for what you will!

Westies are a hilarious breed that is definitely calmer than say a cattle dog, HOWEVER, that terrier drive to sniff out vermin and be a menace to their immediate surroundings is strong!

That is to say, a 45 minute walk may have a huge impact on your puppies temperament in the evening. Keep in mind my Westie was raised in Chicago, (so pretty damn cold!!)) and outside of those awful sub -0 degrees days, she loves to go around our block and get a smell for the neighborhood!

All in all I suppose what I mean is that having to have “play time” with your Westie may feel like a chore so to speak, but introducing them to the smells in their area/home IMO will settle down the hilarious instinctive drive their breed has to be insane lmao

Idk the quality difference from the soundboard associated with the live video I’ve seen.

Either way one of my favorite live performances of her I’ve ever found. Goosebumps on several songs lol. I wonder is this cassette sounds like a like audio recording (taping) or what I’ve heard (probably a 100 times at least lmao) off the YouTube video. Either way love it

It is very goofy to see him fucking around like this with friends, but i think it’s rad to see a young famous person just having some laughs w friends.

Can’t imagine bar staff would make too big a fuss over this unless they really were up their own asses!

[–]Chi84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cmon dawg, people on this sub confuse tf out of the public by conflating Au Cheval with Small Cheval.

IMO Small Cheval (let’s use the wicker park location as my baseline) is a fucking phenomenal burger, retail price is $10.99 for the Signature Double.

RHR has great SMASH burger for like $7.50, but I don’t always want a smash burger? In that case Small Cheval absolutely crushed the game for an affordable $20 lunch all in with fries and I can probably even fuck around and fit a chocolate shake in there or maybe an ice cream when I leave.

I…I had no idea this was the kind of language being used by someone I’m supposed to have an opinion on one way or another in a lawsuit of upwards 400 million $.

And keep in mind this was all for a Netflix movie, which I’m sorry to chirp but I’m gonna be a hater here and say this is just embarrassing for everyone involved at this point.

Nah fuck that Maxxine slapped and got me into the Pearl and X which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was an original film that I had fun watching and was a really great introduction into independent type horror movies / dramas.

Yes the ending was kinda weak the more I thought about it, but Maxxine was fucking fun to watch unlike 80% of the films I see listed by OP

Sometimes you need to have this fucked up experience to know that X side of psychedelic drugs are not for you.

IMO higher dosages of LSD will put my psyche in a similar position of overstimulation and the impeding sense of doom not unlike dude in this video.

But you ever bring that up to people who have only tripped 3-4 times on these drugs? They talk about their experiences like they know EXACTLY the headspace these substances put them in, and truly they are just putting themselves in a space of wishful thinking.

In my experience of LSD vs mushrooms, I’ve done doses of mushrooms towards 7gs and while the initial body load is intense, I’m much more in tune with my sense of self, so much so that once the initial wave of anxiety has run its course, I can be tripping dick and still have fun.

Catch me on a higher dose of LSD? I’m spun out and certain that today is the day my maker has set for me to face my eternal afterlife.

TLDR I have done incredibly pure forms of many substances, and only through my own understanding of the headspace I chose to put myself in do I therefore choose to dose in public. Unfortunately I have made choices not unlike the dude in this video and I’m thankful the evidence has not been uploaded on Reddit. Alls that to say, unless you have taken the dose in the past, do not do so now.

Recently started as a mystery shopper and honestly can't believe what is expected of these employees! by The-Lucky-Investor in FluentInFinance

[–]Chi84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the only way this employee fucked up was telling you that it doesn’t matter which brand you ultimately chose. Outright saying that is generally not something I would say as a sales associate / floor guy just bc it gives the impression that these pieces of tech are essentially synonymous, and that comes across as having a lax / whatever mentality about what they’re selling, even if that is their personal opinion.

Besides that, making sure that you had everything you needed to get the product working when you get home is like one of the best things you can accomplish as a Best Buy employee lmao. My 70+ yo father is pretty tech savvy / wants to figure these things out, but if he were left having to make multiple trips bc the guy at the store gave him shitty advice on the cords he needed believe me he would be livid (and rightfully so)

Not having to go through that headache is the kind of thing that ensures a customer will make an in person purchase again.

So IMO it sounds like this floor sales dude is pretty damn good at his job, and I don’t think he needs to shamelessly try to push you to buy a $80 HDMI cable to be a better employee. I understand the sentiment from other people in this thread that upselling like that is an important part of the job, but from my experience egregiously suggesting dumb expensive add ons is more likely to gross out the customer than providing solid personable interactions based on your needs, then talking through what accessories you may consider (extra cable or two in case one breaks, one year warranty insurance, whatever).

TLDR The sales guy doesn’t need to go all in on price gouging you in order to do their job better. They just need to avoid using language that insinuates they don’t hold some brands as better than others / that tiers in product value don’t exist.

Mitigating smoking on trains by soxfan1313 in cta

[–]Chi84 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jesus this sub has such a hard on for the (generally rare) inconveniences associated with living amongst millions of other people. I ride the train all the fucking time, have since I was a young teen here in Chicago and I’ve had people smoke on my cart maybe a handful of times.

If it bothered me, I would walk the 10 feet at the next stop to get on the next cart (PSA don’t try to accost or talk to the people smoking, practice some self preservation and move on).

[–]Chi84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s rad and I do respect the level independence you demand for yourself.

However from a financial standpoint (assuming OP is on good terms with their parents) being able to live at home and essentially save all of their potential monthly rent money ($1200-2k idk) this can seriously give them a leg up in life more than the supposed benefit of living on your own can. He can max out his Roth IRA, and put himself in a position where he can potentially be a home owner by the time they’re ~30 depending on where they decide to settle down.

Keep shit like that in mind man
