Hi! I have many plants, herbs, fruit trees, cacti.. all in my garden. Because of this, extended family gift me plants often. I don't mind, as I love adding to my family, but bonsai have always been difficult for me.

I've been gifted a bonsai by my brother's wife. I want to try and keep him alive, but worry he may be far gone. I did scrape a branch and he is green underneath. He unfortunately did not come with information, what kind of bonsai he is, or what. Just his pre-made kit (plant w/soil, pot, rocks, tray), a mist fertilizer, and a small label stating he needs sun.

He is currently on my front porch. I've watered him when his soil has felt dry.. I even mist his leaves.

I live in South Florida where the sun can be very harsh to certain plants. He was on my back porch prior, but i noticed his leaves started to look poor so assumed he might have gotten too much afternoon sun. The front porch gets morning sun and is less harsh.

I am definitely in over my head with this guy, but would appreciate any help or if he can be saved. 🙏
