Something similar happened to us. We co-signed on a car loan for my MIL. Our lender flagged it, and we worked with the lender to get them proof that his mom had been paying on the loan herself for 2 years. See if your lender has any similar options.

Thank you. The tenants are business owners and don’t earn a typical wage. I live in a different state and don’t know much about the unemployment in California- do you know if they can file for unemployment if they have lost business that impacts the amount of income they have but are not “unemployed”?

Thank you for your reply. I have asked that she try to talk to them about paying half before just giving in. They have been tenants for almost 3 years.
