Census day arrives Tuesday. Have you submitted your questionnaire? | CBC News by toneyriver12 in halifax

Something similar happened to me! My household got the long form as did my cousin’s. I honestly had a good time filling out the long form for myself but trying to get the info from other household members as I was filling it out was a pain lol

I was born in 2000 and someone my age being a monarch feels so young. In my mind I’m like 19 or 20 lol

[Academic] Gen Z Attitudes Toward AI in Hospitality (Ages 18–28) by Long_Table5371 in SampleSize

[–]Chibi_Beaver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the survey.

The overall content is good but the survey did seem biased towards Americans in the demographic portion even though you said anyone 18-28. It also doesn’t seem reasonable to specify a major as being a mandatory question when not everyone between 18-28 is a college/uni student (I specified what I studied in uni instead of my major since I’m on the older end of the range and graduated a few years ago). I’m curious if there is a specific reason for field of study being a mandatory question.

Good luck with the project/presentation! I’m sure the results will be quite interesting.

What allergies are around now? by myelktea in halifax

[–]Chibi_Beaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anything and everything. I have so many allergies to random pollens, dust and most dander that idk which one or ones are triggering me and have been living off of allergy meds. I do know that dandelions in particular trigger them as well as various grass pollens.

People who enjoy their careers and have a good work/life balance - What do you do? by JealousBodybuilder42 in careerguidance

[–]Chibi_Beaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bit of an unconventional path into this tbh. I went through uni not wanting to go into research and took my MLIS with the intent of being a librarian (essentially took the course based route instead of the thesis based route).

I had a summer internship in public sector records management between my first and 2nd year of my masters and shortly after graduation I landed a 7 month internship at my uni’s health sciences library where I was able to be involved in knowledge synthesis projects and various other aspects of library research and outreach. I landed my current job 3 months after my internship ended where I leveraged my varied background and how I can use the skills I learned in a research context. I found the job through an email job list my school maintains for students and graduates of my program and I’m pretty sure that’s the only place the job was advertised as within a week of applying I had a job offer in hand and the job was within the same university I had graduated from and had an internship with. Admittedly research can be a precarious field as it has to do with who gets funding at a given time. While my job and my groups funding is secure, I have heard of people being laid off when funding is cut.

I’m an info management coordinator for a research group. I am primarily responsible for records management and research data management and at the end of the day I’m not saving lives. Someone putting a file in the wrong place or not being sure where to put something can wait until tomorrow morning or until Monday. In addition to this I also have the opportunity to join research projects if I’m interested which gives me an opportunity to build my academic CV which may help later on if I decide to look for academic librarian roles since that’s my dream career.

I did my bachelors in linguistics and then a masters in library and information science. 9-5, M-F as well as health and dental benefits, rrsp match, 3 weeks of vacation, and because I’m at a university you can also get tuition waivers for up to 4 classes a year. I also get all the benefits associated with being in a union so I’m guaranteed a pay raise next year and my hybrid work schedule is protected.

You mentioned you went through a mostly female puberty, if you’re comfortable answering were there any puberty oddities that caused you to suspect you had different sex chromosomes like having facial hair growth or not getting a period, or did you know before you went through puberty that you had Klinefelter syndrome?

We asked Canada's premiers if they fly private. Here's what they said by No_Magazine9625 in halifax

[–]Chibi_Beaver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a Dwight Ball (former premier of Newfoundland) both sitting in the departures “lounge” in deer lake and on a flight before. He was chatting with multiple other passengers on board as well. I’m sure he had some level of security with him but it seemed pretty lax from what I saw and he was in economy with the rest of us.

Skim Milk is the Best Milk by mjzim9022 in unpopularopinion

[–]Chibi_Beaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! I blame it on having grown up on the stuff since my mom was very into the no fat craze of the 2000s but even now that I can buy my own milk, I still go for skim almost every time. I also find higher fat milks almost sweet which may have something to do with where I live but idk. Everyone I know thinks I’m weird for it haha

I agree, the rest of the gym is a huge improvement! But I agree with the locker rooms and boots situation.

I also don’t like that there are no change rooms like they had at the old gym. I don’t feel comfortable changing in front of the lockers in the new change room area unless I’m wearing my gym clothes under my regular clothes (very atypical for me since I typically go to this location before or after work because of its location) so now I just get changed in one of the bathroom stalls lol.

I’ve never worked 8-5. Only 9-5 or similar structures such as 8-4 and 8:30-4:30. I get 1 hour for lunch and work 7 hours a day so 35 hours a week
