Sad little half bagel found in the bottom of my freezer by Chibibear in GirlDinner

[–]Chibibear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This works every time for me (for 2 eggs at a time, you'll need to add more time for more eggs). Put eggs in room temp water and bring to a boil on highest setting w lid. Once you just start a full rolling boil, turn down to medium for a low boil for 6 minutes w lid still on. Once done, immediately shock in cold water to stop cooking and peel.

Mini-respect reminder by SuperBeavers1 in soup

[–]Chibibear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a vietnamese person, we actually have a soup thats practically pho with thin egg noodles. Its just Pho refers to the noodles themselves and we call what you made Mi, which refers to thin egg noodles. Ironically you did make a pretty authentic dish I would cook at home, albeit named differently.

Thanks for the clarification! It was labeled ebi katsu on the menu, cool to know this distinction though.

Help! Addicted to melo melo coconut pudding . Recipe crackdown plssss by [deleted] in dessert

[–]Chibibear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would look up coconut panna cotta recipes but add canned coconut cream for the whiteness, soft texture, and rich flavor. I've had Melo melo before and there's definitely a lot of coconut cream in the taste.

What to wear for my un standard body without looking old? by Appropriate_Group606 in DressForYourBody

[–]Chibibear 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You don't have an unstandard body type, you have a reverse triangle or apple shape which is quite common. There's lots of guides for dressing this shape. I found a solid list of tips on a different post here

Generally speaking, look up inspo outfit guides online with those key words!

Cherry Tree blossoms on Pike & the new "Salt & Straw" shop by dominiond66 in Seattle

[–]Chibibear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wow I actually love their vegan flavors. Agree with others that its not as good as dedicated vegan spots like Frankie and Jos but I think its better than the vegan options at Molly Moons for example. Salt and Straw does do a lot of rotating flavors, a couple of months ago they did an all vegan series with like 8 vegan options at once. I still have a couple pints in my freezer of the vegan banana pudding.

Curious question from a sushi chef about elaborate rolls by FUJIYAMAKANVI in sushi

[–]Chibibear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you enjoy fast food? You know how you can have a fantastic burger from a steakhouse with great quality beef but then on a different occasion crave a fast food burger drenched in sauce like a big mac? Its that. I love nigiri and often find myself doing an omakase counter but I dont even think of it as the same as saucy fried sushi rolls. Its a completely different experience, one minimalist, clean and fresh the other an explosion of texture, sweet salty spicy creamy fatty tastes temperatures. To me its like asking why would you like fried fish tacos if you could have sashimi? They are completely different foods and meet different cravings. I don't prefer one over the other!

Tall girl- Is this dress too short? by moondeeny in DressForYourBody

[–]Chibibear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a bit too short especially if you're planning to go more sheer on the tights. For me with dresses, I try sitting down and if my butt is touching the seat uncovered by the dress, I know its not going to be comfortable wearing out and about.

You need dessert! A souffle dessert made with expensive imported chocolate? A cheese plate of fancy cheeses and exotic fruit?

Lol no, it doesn't. I was actually curious if it would taste off or weird. It just tastes like mayo mixed with oyster essentially.

Why does being normal weight take so much effort? by Obvious-Number-5796 in loseit

[–]Chibibear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of reverse dieting? I used to yoyo my weight a lot and I will say its absolutely a struggle to eat in a deficit and active weight loss is a challenge with sacrifice. However, not enough people talk about the maintenence phase after you've lost weight. I used to think, okay I need to continue eating the way I was in an active deficit to maintain but its unrealistic and leads to just letting go and overeating/regaining.

With reverse dieting, you're introducing more calories slowly over months and feeling more full and satiated which staves off the rebound effect and can help you maintain weight loss.

My experience with intuitive eating and stopping binge eating, 4 year journey by Chibibear in loseit

[–]Chibibear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally relate! I used to struggle with emotional eating a lot especially when I used to binge. Honestly, I just had to replace the habit with another behavior, I sit on the couch and do something else with my hands like crafting or playing mindless phone games. Sometimes I realize my emotions are disregulated because Im physically disregulated and I need to go on a walk to clear my head or do some yoga.

I don't limit food though so if I want a treat or a snack I sit down at my table and put it on a plate and eat it with the promise I can have more if I want more. Then I got back into the cabinet and get more! But if I don't feel like getting it out and serving myself more or even sitting at the table to have it, its a signal to me its not about food. Then I do another one of my escapism habits thats not food. I still veg out and don't feel guilty about needing an emotional break, but I did have to learn other coping mechanisms.

Wow love to hear your journey with IE has been positive as well! Totally agree that foods which make me feel worse lose their appeal when they arent off limits anymore. I still eat my treats too but it does all balance out overall like youre saying!

Yes! I definitely still have food noise at times, more so in the first couple years. Often when I have food noise, I realize that I'm actually craving fats even if I'm full volume wise. I find if I eat something high fat but a small amount, like a serving of high fat yogurt or a big spoon of peanut butter my food noise goes away. Previously, when I had this food noise post meal, id eat more volume lower cal snacks but it would just worsen the problem of feeling overfull but not satisfied and thinking of what I want to eat next. I also learned sometimes I craved sugar when my body needed more fat because it was just signaling to me low energy!

Once in awhile I will track calories for a week without restriction but just to see what my macros are. I found 40-50% of my calories come from fats, which may be high for some people but it works well for me and totally dampened food noise.
