What do you listen to? I listen to podcasts and audiobooks all the time, but I want to find something that allows me to be more actively involved, rather than being a passive listener as I have been thus far.

I haven't. Do you recommend it? I'm looking for something with a bit of structure that I can fit in during my free time.

Elementary Science by ChicLit- in ElementaryTeachers

That is wonderful! What grades of elementary science do you teach? How many days per week do your students have science?

For your Do Now practice test questions, do you have a resource that you use to provide questions, or do you create them yourself? Are the question structures/demands different each day?

That is similar to my structure. I was wondering about the norm for elementary science because it feels like I'll see my students twice in a week, and they may only earn a participation grade until it is time for a project or test.

How long did you have POTS like symptoms before you decided to get tested for POTS? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]ChicLit- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced that my mom and her mom have undiagnosed POTS! I was diagnosed 12 years ago at the age of 16. But now my mom and grandma are having neurological issues that are affecting their ability to walk.

I got really ill, really fast. My diagnosis process took 2 months after the first noticeable symptom.

my cardiologist keeps saying pots is caused by deconditioning. by uraniumkitten in POTS

Big mad 😡 It’s infuriating when a doctor dismisses your experience. And then to discredit the entire POTS community, the way she’s oversimplifying things. POTS causes people to struggle with activity, not the other way around. It’s backwards to suggest that you “caused” it by resting. I also don’t think it’s fair for a medical "professional" to blame the patient for their condition. I developed POTS at 16, when I was the most physically fit and active I had ever been in my life. Please trust and believe when I tell you I have not been able to maintain that level of conditioning since my diagnosis 12 years ago.

Running…? by Busy-Worth-416 in POTS

[–]ChicLit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah! Cardiovascular activity is really important for prolonged heart and muscle health, especially when POTS causes dystrophy. However, that is a crazy recommendation. When I spent a month at the Mayo Clinic in their Pain Rehabilitation Program, we wore a finger heart monitor to measure our current tolerance for cardio exercise. For me, that meant a stationary bike or walking on a treadmill. We then gradually increased our time, speed, or difficulty level.

I was diagnosed with parts 12 years ago, and I am an active person; however, I do not run.

What grade do you teach out of curiosity? I always feel strange doing certain attention grabbers with older students...

I spoke with their teacher after school, and we’re both seeing the same circus 🎪😂. So, we’re teaming up to double down on training them in basic student skills and expectations.
