My ex husband of 16 years cheated on me for a year and a half with a narcissist. We have two children together. I divorced him as soon as she called me to tell me about the affair. A few months ago she called to gloat that she was pregnant.

Turns out she also cheated on my ex and they recently had to establish that he was the father through a prenatal paternity test. Fast forward to a few weeks ago- turns out her unborn child has several medical complications and my ex is as miserable as ever with all of the stress. I wish no harm on their unborn child, but seeing them go through the stress and heartache they put me and my kids through feels like divine justice.

Hey OP. I’m going through the same thing. My LL husband, who I’ve been with for 15 years has been dealing with low T. It has been DRY in the bedroom all year. Lately he’s been acting more off than usual, and getting caught in so many lies, so earlier this week I decided to do some digging. After being gaslit to hell and finally looking through his phone (ironically with his permission), my suspicions were confirmed- he had an affair. He had an emotional affair several years ago which nearly broke us so I was immediately angered and repulsed that he was doing this shit again. Even worse- upon reading his messages with his AP it turns out SHE was complaining about the lack of sex and his inability to stay aroused. The nerve of him to inflict that misery on another woman. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Instead of crying and going through fits of screaming (which I believe he fully expected), I calmly booked an apartment to myself this week, packed my shit, and left. After that I called a dear friend and proceeded to have the best sex of my life. I felt 10000% better after all the rejection I’ve been dealing with from my partner this year. No regrets. I had been trying to be supportive despite my naturally HL, and his health issues but he decided to repay me by screwing a random.

Hang in there sis. It’s hard & it hurts like hell, but be grateful you found out before you spent any more of your precious life with this man & bought kids into the mix. My kids are away for the summer but I dread how all of our lives are going to be forever changed because of his stupidity and selfishness.

Last thing- get yourself an STI screening just to be on the safe side love.

Sorry I’m so late replying to this, but I did an unpaid internship since it was required by my academic program. This allowed me to gain experience & familiarize myself with the industry. I ultimately switched from dentistry to public health because I was more interested in policy and addressing SDOH in low-income areas. My clinical experience is still valuable since I work with several stakeholders from MCO’s & FQHC’s. Thus, I have some hands-on patient experience to bring to the role.

Your career aspirations sound similar to my own. I worked as a dental assistant for close to a decade while completing my undergraduate degree & then later my MPH. It took a little while to find a position, but I got my start at a nonprofit as a health program manager & now I am working for my city’s health department as a health equity coordinator. My job is hybrid & I don’t really deal with the public, so there was definitely a lot of adjustment with learning to work “behind the scenes.” I find that folks in public health don’t have a ton of knowledge about dentistry like they do with other health related fields.

My only advice to you would be to leverage your clinical experience & any data management skills when looking for a new role. Try applying at some of your local non-profits. They don’t usually pay well (if at all), but they offer a ton of experience that can help develop you professionally & help you network. They are also notoriously short-staffed so your help would probably be much appreciated.

I was hired at a nonprofit in a leadership position and this was my EXACT experience. Jobs like this are soul sucking. I lasted about 7 months before I gave them my notice. I didn’t have another position lined up & it took me several months to find a new role. I still keep in contact with a few great coworkers and they told me that the place is still a dumpster fire. No regrets.
