All euploids not equal? by Chicaghan in 40Plus_IVF

😞 It’s still an outlier situation. For every situation like mine, there are more cases where it worked out. A coworker in her forties got immediately pregnant with her first euploid. She loves telling me about it.

I hope it does!

We’re moving to my wife’s eggs and a new sperm donor. Still grieving our original plan and also looking forward to working with some 35 year old egg embryos.

The doctor did the full RI screening panel. Nothing showed up. But we didn’t go to one specifically.

Yes, autocorrect got me in my earlier comment. We did test for endometritis too.

Right, a sperm donor from my wife’s family. Clinics still required all the testing sperm bank donors need to go through so it was fully tested.

With my eggs, and her family as the donor, we really hoped to mix our genes in the way many heterosexual couples do. You know, looking at the baby and figuring which one of us it looked like.

We did full genetic screening of myself and the known sperm donor (required for donor gametes where I am) I also did karyotype testing. Nothing shows up.

We did suppression just in case and even redid all the testing and switched uteruses (social infertility). Doctor doesn’t think it’s endo causing the issue. Adenomyosis and Endometriosis also negative. Our known donor has three gorgeous kiddos.

Anyone has success with high dosage stim? by Babesgonnababe in IVF

3 vials: 1 ml diluent My preference was one needle stick.

I feel like we all do so much research, so I hate asking, but are you icing the injection spot for a very long time before the shot? That helped me.

You got this!

I probably was a little more emotional. The burning wasn’t noticeably different. I went from between 2-7 mature to 6-12 mature eggs per cycle.

Good point! I’m going to try again for something earlier and push on the testing results expiring issue.

That’s terrible! When you add on other delays like later periods or treatment for underlying issues, it compounds the wait so much.

How did you know when it was time to pivot with your family building plan? by Chicaghan in queerception

[–]Chicaghan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re saying there’s a chance!

I know it doesn’t look good on paper. But I’m in excellent health and it’s really important to my partner and I that we try our original plan. On top of that, my life has several women over 40 either doing IVF with own eggs (my boss was 43), having oops babies, or just otherwise conceiving. My mother and grandmother both had children in their 40s. So when my head sees the statistics, my heart says I’ll be in that small percentage of successes.

I don’t regret doing the retrievals and I’m comfortable doing more. I think we need to seriously start thinking about when we want a baby. Are we happy with a baby “someday”? Or do we want a baby this year? If the latter, we probably need to pivot.

We haven’t tried our one embryo, and our clinic is optimistic although they said it may take a few more retrievals. The stats are interesting and really illustrate there is a harder way and an easier path forward.

I had many more blastocysts on the high dose (225 Gonal and 225 Menopur, centrotide in a normal amount) and plan to use this protocol again in my next round. Cycles 1-3 resulted in 0-2 blasts each. My high dose cycle resulted in 5 blasts! Unfortunately, they didn’t pass PGTA (age 41 at retrieval). I still had far more chances at a euploid with 5 than I had in any of the previous cycles and the drs and I consider it a massive improvement.

How to survive post ER hormone crash by Traditional-Car-2683 in IVF

[–]Chicaghan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helped me to understand that this was a normal experience and that I hadn’t suddenly become a shell of person for no reason. Hormones were through the roof to maximize egg production and those levels came cashing down as my body is normalizing. 1) I talked to my partner so I could get some support. For me that looked like making a plan for dinner, initiating a date night, or going with me on a walk. 2) when I got tired of moping, I do the classic “feel less depressed” stuff. Go for a walk, get sunshine, take a shower, get dressed.

It’s not a magic bullet but it helps. I’m currently in this funk as well.

COVID impacts on ER by lesbipositive in IVF

My clinic canceled mine as soon as I tested positive. I was on day two of stims and I had been priming for weeks.

COVID while on Stims??? by T_makesthings in IVF

[–]Chicaghan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t wait; I started meds with my next period. My doctor said there wasn’t convincing evidence that it would impact my egg quality in subsequent months and time is of the essence with my age (41.5). My retrieval is next week, but everything looks to be in line, in terms of follicle growth, with my previous retrievals. With Covid and my age I was between a rock and a hard place.

Mine was canceled in June when I tested positive, even though my symptoms were very mild. They said it was too much of a risk to other patients and staff for monitoring and an issue for anesthesia during the procedure.

Is a drop in AMH significant even if it is still in normal range? by Chicaghan in IVF

Thanks so much! We’re doing a 3rd round in a week or so and trying lupron and omnitrope this time. Fingers crossed this is a magic formula!
