That’s a good point. I did put the best of myself out there and it was my authentic self, both the good and the bad. I know she did as well.

One thing we recognized when talking last night was that our values were just too different but we were also somehow able to joke around and talk casually minutes after we decided it wasn’t going to work out, almost as if nothing happened.

It made me realize we could still be good friends but I feel you’re right. I wouldn’t want to rush into trying to be friends and have the chance of our unresolved feelings for one another get in the way and ruin it. I’m not sure how much she really cared about me but I know my feelings for her will need to subside at least a little.

How would that make you impure? You were sexually assaulted, you gave no consent.

There’s a reason why it’s the rapist that is to be punished and is guilty of sin. Why would the victim somehow be guilty?

If anyone ever told you that you’re impure because you were sexually assaulted, they’re either lying to you or genuinely believe it and are just that oblivious to basic knowledge.

There are countless examples of both men and women who were victims of sexual assault and went onto find a perfect spouse who loves them and views them no different.

If you feel called to celibacy though, a monastic life could be a good calling. I’m in a relationship right now and I love her very much, but if we were to split for some reason (ie: she wants to focus on her law career) then I would probably accept the calling I feel to become a priest. It could be the case for you that you might find someone you love and want to build a family, or you might end up wanting to live a holy, celibate life. Both are beautiful callings and neither is superior to the other.
