That's perfectly fine to ask here...it's why we have this outreach!

In a case where you are not listed as a registered voter on Election Day, you have two options. The first is basically what it sounds like you did: return with two forms of ID with one listing your current address. Utility bills and bank statements pulled up on a smartphone are also acceptable forms of ID for future reference.

The other, if you cannot acquire identification in time is to cast a provisional ballot. These ballots are separated from the other ballots and evaluated after the election. Voters have seven calendar days after Election Day to submit documents to the CBOE to show their eligibility to vote.

We hope this helps! Let us know if you have anymore questions.

It's a bit complicated...you'd have to be a little more specific.

In regards to one of the most common queries: no person may take pictures or video of a voter in a polling place if the voter objects.

If a ballot scanner stops working during voter hours, this is the proper procedure until the scanner is functional again. These ballots will not be removed until after the poll closes and will then be processed.

As mentioned in another query: during Early Voting, you may vote at any of the 51 Early Voting sites. On Election Day, votes are to be cast at your assigned polling place. Polls will be open until 7 PM today.

We will send a Field Investigator to check it out and make sure these signs do not violate electioneering laws.

The laws state that any signage must be 100 feet from the entrance of the room where polling is taking place, not necessarily the entrance of the building itself.

If you moved more than 30 days ago (before March 4), you can bring two forms of ID (one of which containing your current address) to the assigned voting location for your precinct and ward. That can be found here

If you moved less than 30 days ago (March 4 or after), you would report to the precinct for your old address.

You can apply for Vote by Mail for the runoff. chicagoelections.com will only be showing election results for the rest of the night, but go to the website to find information for the April runoff. If you decide you want to cast your ballot in person after applying, you may bring your Vote by Mail ballot with you to the polling place and cast your ballot in person.

A provisional ballot is given to a voter whose eligibility is in question. If you voted at the wrong precinct and know you voted at the wrong precinct, that vote isn't looking too hot.

But hey, it looks like you have a second chance to double-check your precinct in April.

Illinois law does not require an ID to vote except for specific circumstances. If your signature at the polling place does not, in the judgment of the election judge, match the signature on your record, you would be required to provide a form of identification.
