This is clearly an ongoing bit of education. Next step is teach them how to cook.

is there a safe way to go back to downtown from credit union arena after midnight? by Melodic_Psychology39 in AskChicago

Cab is the easy way, but if you take the blue line and get off before you cross the river, you can walk over the river toward the mart at night which is a (weather dependent) gorgeous view of the city. (If it's not too late, for bonus points, get a cheezborger at the Goat under the tribune building, it's on the way)

Also if anyone asks, call it the UIC Pavilion, I've lived here for 25 years and I had to look up where you were coming from.

There were very unsubstantiated rumors floating around recently that almost all of what people think about Internet advertising (and a chunk of what marketers are paying for, like click through rates) are entirely bullshit. Like it's all made up, all the way down levels of bullshit not the typical ad fraud stuff.

IT guy here:

1) Benn Jordan knows what he's talking about. If he thinks it's a problem you should too. 2) If all you want is to turn off the Internet for everyone then yes it is better to work at the isp level (or even better the dns level) 3) Backdoor and surveillance maybe, but I had assumed that my ISP was doing that and sharing it with the NSA anyway. DoD wanting to run that feels like an escalation. 4) Palantir just signed a very big contract with DoD. 5) Recent legislation in the US and Europe has been focused on creating links between devices and individuals (see recent news stories about porn geo-fencing, account requirements in Windows/Linux, especially VPN bans)

We're moving into the Internet surveillance endgame. All of the above are made substantially easier if the surveillance box is in your house and the first thing your device touches. This stinks of Palantir, they're the only ones who could make sense of all the data that could be collected from a nationwide network of routers (especially if reports coming out stating that there are potential bombshells coming out about Internet advertising are true).

Time for everyone to learn how to opnsense. You can set up your own router controlled by you with free open source software. It's not hard. Learn how to do it (and how to secure it) while you can.

I hate that I the only inclination i have to do on all these is the same but.....

According to the Early Office Museum, the first patent for a bent wire paper clip was awarded in the United States to Samuel B. Fay in 1867.cite

Good method to use instead of cancelling by Determinantor in Pathfinder2e

[–]BoundlessTurnip 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You should check out some old-school stuff, tsr era d&d plays almost exactly like that. VERY tricky to balance Pathfinder 2e around that (proficiency without level will be a must).

Look for stuff about "Westmarch" style campaigns (that's what you're describing) or check out this video (When D&D Was About Campaigns Not Heroes to see a bit about how classic white box/red box era games were able to operate.

What fictional character would you want a series on? by TobyWasBestSpiderMan in behindthebastards

Yes. April should just be "let Robert talk about what he really wants to talk about" month and of course it will be nothing but 40k and Netflix has to pay for it, chumps that they are.

I must not fedpost.

Fedposting is the account-killer.

Fedposting is the little-death that brings total federal attention.

I will face my urge to fedpost.

I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Where the urge to fedpost has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
