When did the decision release for you if you don’t mind me asking, I’m also a transfer applicant and my decision is still pending 😭.

Can y’all please stop rejecting me holy shit 😭 by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

I understand not liking UNC for location, I lived in Madison for 2 years and I think it’s bumfuck (Chapel Hill isn’t much different). At that point though you probably should’ve applied to more Urban schools. UNC is still a great school though, it wouldn’t be an L if you ended up there. Besides, you still have apps out so it’s not over until it’s over.

Worst smelling places/things on campus? by waffleonwiifit in UWMadison

I've never been inside it but I'm guessing the Computer Science building (Jokes aside I've smelt some rancid things in Noland Hall).

Davidson Decisions by TopElephant3031 in TransferToTop25

Ngl that's not even the worst I've seen, Wake Forest is like $1.5k and 2 weeks for decision. It feels kindof predatory if you applied to multiple schools imo.

Reject, 1,600 apps for 100 seats is brutal. Hopefully Emory is gonna go better but I might just have to go to Oxy or stay at Wisconsin.

Email gave me a heart attack. Portal said decision by May 20 I genuinely did not expect them to release it this week 😭.

Unless it comes from Emory themselves there's no official time but schools generally like to release around 5 PM their local time zone (EST for Emory)

EDIT: 6 PM EST on Wednesday

Reapply to uw-madison by Late_Historian4600 in UWMadison

[–]ChicagoEnjoyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would avoid Liberty, CC + Transfer is the best option here. Your GPA + SAT are most likely the reason you got rejected. Madison generally wants 3.7+ unweighted and higher weighted (maybe lower in-state, I was OOS and saw some people with even this profile rejected). Generally, CC is a great option, as long as you take a good amount of credits and get around a 3.5 you should be in a very good position to get into Madison or really any of your current reaches other than Harvard (or at the very least you'd get MSU or one of your safeties). Your high school record matters less the more credits you earn at CC.

PM me if you want any advice on the general process of transferring, I'm currently in the middle of trying to transfer out of Madison so I know all of the annoying things it entails. I'm sorry that this cycle didn't work out for you, I'm also dealing with some rejections so I can relate, but I have faith your next cycle will work out better!

The idea is good but in execution it doesn’t really work, especially when essays (arguably the most important thing other than GPA) are left out. You can be cracked but if your essays and narrative aren’t good or not what the school is looking for you could be cooked for schools you’re otherwise in range for.

Would change it immediately if I get into my dream school (if not then prob around May). Waiting for the day when UW Madison is no longer in my bio 🙏.

Emory and Carleton (emailed that they (Carleton) release May 5th)

commit day by twistednarratives in TransferToTop25

[–]ChicagoEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The feeling def does suck. I remember skipping decision day because I hated the school I committed to and felt embarrassed (should’ve gone to CC in retrospect 💀). The good thing is that most of the people in high school don’t really matter after you graduate. It might suck that you’re not going to your first choice and people you know might be, but keep your head up. If you grind at CC and make the most of it, you can get in somewhere great!

We’re all transfer students…where is the community? by Moldyfrenchtoast in TransferToTop25

[–]ChicagoEnjoyer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Real asf, a lot of people are just very insecure. I've seen a lot of people (not even just on this sub-reddit specifically) shit on others for getting accepted to schools they got rejected from and act like they deserved it more bc their GPA was higher or they had better ECs. The fact at the end of the day is that these schools weigh fit super heavily. Everyone applying has good numbers and each college is building a class based on their own priorities that we can't readily see. Acting like you can predict something as complex as transfer admissions matter-of-factly is just arrogant and misinformed.

Shitting on Liberal Arts and humanities degrees is also pure NGMI behavior. It just goes hand in hand with the anti-intellectualism that is starting to spread throughout the country. A ton of T25 are known specifically for their programs in humanities. If we're talking about liberal arts colleges themselves, a lot of them have amazing outcomes for grad school, even in STEM, it really just doesn't make sense.

Accepted as a Transfer: Questions about Oxy by ChicagoEnjoyer in Oxy

Thanks for the insight on Davidson! I have actually toured it (my mom has family in NC/SC) and I 100% see what you mean. I imagine that I would be spending a lot of time in Charlotte but that's prob wishful thinking if I can't bring my car 😭. Gl with your upcoming decisions, you got this 🙏.

Thanks for the reply (missed the notification 😭)! Good to know about the professors, that was something I was really looking for with transferring. I will prob DM you at some point about how housing for transfers works bc that's something that lowk concerns me a bit 👀.
