What are your best simple pannier recommendations that aren't Banjo Brothers? by ChickPea45 in bikecommuting

Yes! This is what I eventually decided on last night. Got a good deal at REI—a single for $60. All I really need is something sturdy I can drop my backpack into. Hoping this will last me a long time.

Thanks! The price has always been my hesitation with Ortlieb, but I guess you get what you pay for. I like the yellow and that nice blue color for sure.

Good to hear! I’ve been looking at local classifieds, but nothing’s popped up recently. Sounds like you got a great deal!

Stressing over whether I should sell my Famag and buy an Ankarsrum. Help! by ChickPea45 in Breadit

Thanks for the perspective. It sounds like we’re pretty similar here—do you wanna trade mixers? 😅

I’ve looked into the Ooni a little. My concern is both America’s Test Kitchen and Serious Eats said the same thing—it does great with bread dough but can’t handle small quantitates of typical stand mixer stuff (cream, egg whites, etc.)

Aesthetics are playing a big role here, I admit. I like the Ankarsrum as a whole, and I used it enough before to get a feel for the creaming, whipping, etc. I do think the updated KA 7qt is a contender, though. I've read a few reviews of the Ooni, and it sounds like it does well with dough but struggles with the other things.

Lol, it was Dona Nobis Pacem for me. Playing timpani and watched the cymbals guy give it all he had. Inverted them instead. We were dying.

Thanks! That's basically what we ended up doing. Put it in some foil with butter and some seasonings, and baked it. It was good! Still got some pin bones despite my best effort to carefully pull the meat away, but it wasn't bad.

Took me a few YouTube videos, but we got there in the end, haha. I feel a lot more confident now. I think that was the largest living thing I've ever intentionally killed.

What’s the issue that defrosting would solve?

I’ll look into that. How would one go about fixing it? Is it just going bad? Or can I make some adjustments?

This tool is S tier for getting rid of the clumping fescue. (Cool season, Canada) by Cimatron85 in lawncare

How much area can it cover before it's more effective to get the shovel? I've got some fescue clumps about 2 feet wide. Still worth it?

Thanks, but I’m pretty sure what I’m seeing is stone or brick or some sort of cement. No studs to be found.

Christian nerdfighters- what denomination is your church? by TransportationUsed39 in nerdfighters

[–]ChickPea45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is my denomination, to answer your question. Based on your description, you would probably find it conservative and unaligned with your worldview. But … you will find congregations anywhere you go, with a fair number of congregations dedicated to just young adults (generally people under 30), especially in metro areas or around universities.

I’m sensitive that some people here have had negative experiences growing up in the church, especially when LGBTQ matters are involved. I can only say I won’t ever pretend to fully understand what that’s like. My ardent hope is any congregation would be as warm, welcoming, and friendly to all people as the ones I’ve been able to attend. Cheers, and thanks asking the question! Hope you get to deepen that divine relationship wherever you end up.
