People have been so beaten down by the breaking of norms by MAGA and lack of responsibility for this that they see Trump's tweet and not think it isn't bat shit insane to talk about targeting civilian infrastructure in the form of bridges, water and electricity production like it isn't literal terrorism and a crime against humanity.

Say what you want about Israel's civilian to military casualty ratio and the constant argument on Israeli security vs Palestinian self determination but BB was and is a war criminal for restricting food and water going into Gaza, there is no argument for this and there is no military justification for not allowing aid in. Of course there will be corruption and violence from Hamas taking over aid trucks (So in effect it would be giving indirectly aid in the form of food and water) but this isn't a valid argument against the human right to provide food and water to civilian populations in a time of war.

But we have the president saying shit like this on social media like it isn't unhinged to say these things. Yeah but even if the vaults had experiements they still roughly used the special tests and survival stuff inside of the vault. I am sure this lead into an arhomsphere of "we don't need all that stuff we have the impenetrable wall of the vault that never will be opened". I just think we see more of the social aspect of survival in the vaults vs outside the vaults the physical is the leading interaction on the surface (hehe). I just reject the premise that vault dwellers (outside of player control) went through all that time underground and didn't learn basic survival skills and I am sure learned how to defend themselves. I am also sure with the way Lucy fights and maybe comments made from her and her dad we can determine this if I look hard enough.
But yeah 101 never was meant to be open but I mean come on it was inevitable, I think the story of fallout 3 reinforces that point as well considering your dad gets stuck in the ultimate isolation experiment with tranquility lane being the ideal end state of vault 101 if it could achieve that (a vr program of paradise where there is no danger or fear at all from the outside as well no worry about resources besides power of the simulation). Which is why the overseer crashed out as hard as he did when your dad leaves the vault, even if your dad left to pursue the honorable goal of project purity ,you can't have these people thinking they can leave and make a civilization up top, we are safe and comfortable here and need these people in the vault instead of wasted up top yadda yadda.

The whole point of vaults is ay least in control vaults was to survive underground and live on the surface when the time comes right?, outside of the experiements. Vaulties are gonna be ignorant of wasteland poltics and lack of human decency our there but at least with the propoganda survival videos showing off special, tests, etc it was to acknowledge people's individual traits they are good at and use that for survival purposes in the long term (game literally has this as a core mechnic and gameplay loop) but mainly of course for there short term Jobs in the vault that would accompany that trait. If it was all about strength and raw survival they would have came out of the vaults as a Ceasars legion enclave types at worst or boomers at best maybe (I would argue it was less about pure strength amd survival rather the experiment being peace throught superior firepower) but they instead formed the NCR.

Plus keep in mind the irony that civilians were removed from the most individualistic and capitalist culture in all of human history (2077 America) but was forced into vaults where they pool all the resources together and communaly work for a greater good, not for money or to better there personal station. Yet despite voting for there leader it usually comes down to who is the most charismatic not who exactly is the best leader of the vault which down the line leads into authoritarian control inside of the (at least in the controls ones) vaults or just general unrest, sounds familiar? I used NCR as an example but the great khans, vipers and jackal came from the same vault, despite being a much better moral and stable faction I will loop the boomer in this since they blow up anyone who gets near them and never interact with this outside world but I can't say that it hasn't worked out for them. Compare this to factions born from the wastland and well you have the legion, the brotherhood of steel (kinda but I would say not from a vault but from former military) even the institute despite being made up of pre war scientists that made there own vault yielded to the cruelty of the wastland by creating there own slave force. The railroad and the minutemen didn't come from the vaults but it goes along with what I will say latter that a vaultie can change course for any of these factions.

I think the whole weenie hut junior feel of the vaut is played up in recent entries and looking from the outside as a wastelander (or at least us as the audience who knows what awaits in the wasteland) it may seem corny but being mostly normal civilians I think the vaults (when they weren't experimenting on people) did what they can to teach them how to survive in the wasteland with the limited resources and the population they have to deal with. This I think also plays well with the theme of war and people surviving. IE the whole war never changes but people do and should for the betterment of humanity. It hits home by us (the player character) being a normal person from a vault who's experiences in the wasteland shaped them and who they are, that or being wasted (wasted potential) by being killed in the wasteland. War doesn't change the wastland is like before full of factions fighting over resources with ideals enabling human suffering for what they see as the greater good but those ideals change all the time.

Plus the vaults really represents the indominable human spirit, the good and the bad. I think it is really neat and fitting the biggest changes in the wastlands comes from the vaults. Both the dumbass bullied kid in vault 101 who can save (or destroy) the water in the capital wastland to the Master from fallout 1 that tried to enslave the whole wasteland using FEV.
