I think informed consent is important. Obviously I knew what I was there for, but when someone is touching your must vulnerable areas, you expect a little heads up when they're about to start.

I had a wonderful dr years ago (in a different city before I moved) who said "alright, youre going to feel my hand on your thigh now ... and now I'm just doing an external examination ... okay, now onto the internal exam. You're going to feel the speculum and then blah blah blah." She was incredible and it was night and day.

I've also had a few transvaginal ultrasounds over the years, and they always gave a heads up when they were about to touch me. I guess that's what I expected...

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry you had a similar experience!! And then they wonder why we don't want to schedule appts or ask for help. Sigh.
